This happened to me. Dead cylinder, missed like hell and threw codes like you would not believe. I tried everything. Friend of mine in another shop said "replace the fuel pump along the frame rail", my thoughts said that ain't it. But, I was out of ideas. Put a pump on and it ran like a stroke...- KCMeyer

Midship Fuel tank sender Help
That's not a bad price at all. I just went through the sending unit nightmare on our 1993 F350 with a 7.3 IDI. They were in the $300 range. We got it. I finally have two usable diesel tanks on the fire ground! Multiple wiring issues were uncovered in the frame. But it works, we're fighting fire, and that's what we wanted! Thanks everyone- KCMeyer

7.3l idi fuel leak from filter
A popular place for the factory filter to leak after some age. Someone had a thread not long ago about fighting the same battle. Won’t start
I have three 7.3L IDI trucks and they all act different in purging a pump or even a filter for that matter. Keep tying is still the best advice. 93 ford 7.3 n/a help needed
I have changed all my 7.3 IDI engines to a Wix 33417. You can look at a picture on any parts store website. Simple 12 point water drain bolt. It eliminates the several notorious leak points on the "217" filter.- KCMeyer

Injection punmp
If you have a Mac guy that makes his rounds they have a IDI pump wrench that is thin and has the right bends. They really aren't too high considering it's Mac.- KCMeyer

Good questions. I should have provided more information. The truck has a factory plastic tank and a two wire plug. One post of the sending unit is signal, the other is riveted right to the top plate. So that wire is my ground. The gauge shows empty when plugged in, but when disconnected it goes...- KCMeyer
