I finally got it pulled, it took about 2 1/2 evenings after work. That is fun doing it by yourself with nothing but the light from your phone and a 38hp kubota at 9:30. It was about all that tractor could do to pick out that cast iron behemoth. The radiator had white crust buildup starting...
Went out and tested the gauge on my dads idi, tested right into the 300s.
Went back over to this one and tested it, no more than 75. I added a little oil to a cylinder and tested it. Jumped up to 160 and started dropping the more tries I went.
Ouch. Oh well.
I finally acquired a compression gauge, only a $50-60 kit from amazon, but it'll do for as often as I am gonna use it. I didn't check the 3 cylinders under the injector lines. Sadly she is only throwing 50-70 psi on the 4 out of 5 cylinders and the 5th showing 0. Yikes. Stuck rings or lack...
I'll be sure and look for that tomorrow. Thanks.
It did that with the old and new pumps. No leaks that I could see on the feed or return lines anywhere. I am apparently missing something stupid though.
I'm running the return line off of the pump into a water bottle to make sure that is not a problem.
I reckon I'm going to dig deeper into the timing then, just to make sure. Will also pick up a compression gauge, should have done that already.
Does anyone know the thread size for the inlet on...
Ok, I went out and took # 7 (3 on drivers side) off and used my old #1 line and hooked an injector up to it. It did spray an ok pattern. It wouldn't hit on ether earlier today but I'll try later after I top the batteries back off.
New Randd idi pump installed, new starter, batteries, and cables. Bled the lines. Getting fuel to injectors. Fuel returning from ip into a bottle. Hit the glow plugs for the 12 sec after having the block heater on for a couple hours. Still can't get it to start. $2000 worth of parts and still...
Looks great towcat. That is one of my favorite shade on 60 -70s model trucks.
Type4 Yep I have been trying to run it out of a 5gal can with fresh diesel. the tanks will be flushed and cleaned before they are hooked up. Thanks for the concern.
Really? I love that color. I will own these two and eventually a idi swapped 67-73 highboy. Good lord willing, I probably won't buy any other personal vehicles for most of my life. You can afford anything you really want to.
Got ahold of my battery cables and starter yesterday. I haven't had the time to mess with it though and my randd injection pump just shipped. Will probably wait and install them all together.
P.s. I have started using a new (to me) style of battery cable ends on everything I own and highly...
I'll run the ip pump return to a bucket and install the new cables and starter tomorrow after work maybe snag a couple eb pics too.
Wild ass guesses can find stupid easy problems, so I'm up for it icanfixall. I wanna say I tried that already but maybe not.
Went out and tried pull starting it today. My dad pulled me around with the tractor. No hits at all that I could tell.
Tried several times in 3rd and once in second. After he got up a little more speed on about the third try it would start putting out some white smoke, but no hits. Tried it with...
I have no idea why it is a non runner, p.o. guessed the fuel pump was bad and just didn't want to screw with it. It was last tagged in 2012 I don't think the ipump has been changed, the inspection cover and bolts are just as dirty as the rest. Thanks for the quick reply I will try a pull start...
Well I bought another never ending project to go along with my early bronco. I have had it for over a month and cannot get it to start. I am stumped on what is wrong with it.:frustrate I bought it as a non runner for $500, supposedly had a bad fuel pump(works but I deleted it). Worth it for at...
