I bought an Edelbrock universal electric pump from O'Riley's. It's diesel specific. (Green) Mounted it on a home made bracket Inside the frame near the stock lift pump. Works great. EZ to prime after filter changes. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk

    Swapping 351m with a 2001 7.3 powerstroke

Wow, never seen that one before... One other variable is the early small block Ford's, the 229/260 and first 289 engines through 64 had a 5 bolt bell housing vs 65 and later Windsor engines had a 6 bolt pattern. The 5 bolt bell would fit in tighter spaces. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk

    Swapping 351m with a 2001 7.3 powerstroke

Fe engines are a bell housing pattern all their own. The 429/460 shares the same pattern as the 351/400 m. The 289/302/351 /351c. Have a different pattern among the small block group. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk

    HE351VE Remote Mount Turbo

Not a matter of not knowing what I was doing... More a matter of looking it over on a walk around. Engine was clean and dry, a quick look underneath showed a clean chassis. I needed a truck, the price was right. It had a glow plug controller issue. But overall it looked pretty good. Now, I...

My 88 IDI, I bought for $2250, supposed to be 97K on the odometer. Changed all fluids, it had a new radiator, fan clutch. Had to replace all the U joints and carrier bearing. All were dry and shot. Then water pump went south. 97K??? Maybe rolled over 2/3 times. It runs good, gets 18 mpg@75/80 in...

    HE351VE Remote Mount Turbo

For sure the later model trucks are tough to work on.... Yank the cab to do anything to the turbo. Price for them is really wide I found an 08 CCLB, with 128K on the clock, good Carfax report. Price $ 9480. Bargain? I think so, I figured I could get 3K for my 88 IDI truck, fork out$6500. And...

    HE351VE Remote Mount Turbo

I just recently had a long conversation with Justin recently, he told me he was at his max power level in the mid 400's said he was putting so much fuel in the cylinder that it was literally putting the fire out! His personal Rig is one of the most powerful IDI engines out there. And ask him how...

Have you taken your inj.pump to a shop that has calibration stand equipment? Likely you have a fuel calibration problem... Even a stock IDI is responsive when you whack the throttle down. Falling on it's face till the turbo spools sounds like you have a pump issue? Sent from my XT1710-02 using...

I have to agree on keeping the recs up when working it. It will live longer.a mild turbo setup will make it live longer,And use less fuel doing it. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk

I met a guy that had a 6.9 in a 4 speed 3/4 ton pickup, it had a hypermax turbo set up with a wicked wheel swapped out. The pump and injectors were 120cc. I drove it myself, and it was very similar to driving a N14 Cummins in a class 8 truck. You could roll on the throttle going through the...

Your right on the smoke on a cold start David, it's a trade off though. I had a luminosity probe timing meter that went into the glow plug hole, so it was possible to get your fuel pump timing dialed in. With some degreeing of the cam and advanced fuel timing that took care of a lot of the smoke...
