very scary Lockdown! need c6 Help??

+1000! My 88 F-Superduty did the same thing. I had a shop replace the 5.13's with 4.11's and they didn't lube the outer axle bearings as drdmh44 described. It took a day or two but then with no warning the left wheel locked. Mine is a heavy bucket truck, it put flat spots on the tires! It...

1994 F250 Extended Cab XLT 4x4 Factory Turbo

I wish I could get it, and I have the cash, but TomTom says you are 1,806 miles away. I can't take off work and shipping would blow the deal. Darn the luck. I wouldn't sell it for less than $5k.

    100% WMO?

Viscosity scales are different for different oils! As you can see from the chart, 85W gear oil has about the same pour point as 30W motor oil. I have no idea why they did the scales like this other than to keep us confused!

    Talk With Banks

I refuse to borrow money. My IDI came along as a fixer upper for $2800. After many hours of labor and parts for both the truck and the lift I have about $13,000 invested, $400 to $800 at a time. An identical lift like the one I have on my truck retails for $18,000. Cheap? No, I spend what it...

Should I sell my first car to pay for school? 1971 Camaro RS/SS

Been there, done that! I think you misheard or misread something about ole Dave. He does NOT say get into student loan debt. For folks in dire circumstances he tells them to put it on hardship deferral. He is always saying don't have a student loan so long it feels like a pet! His advice...

    The best new rustless beds?

Just curious, what's rusting out your bed so badly? Road salt? Cow manure? Fertilizer? How are you working this truck, what do you carry?

    A BUNCH OF SHOCK QUESTIONS

    burnt up dash wireing!

Man you have had awful luck with that truck, I hope things turn around soon for you. Years ago, before cell phones, I met the prettiest girl ever at a gas station. We hit it off and got something to eat and made plans to rendevous the next night at a local hotspot. The feed wire to my...

    Air clean lid modification?

The only thing worth removing is the restrictor in the base that choked down the size of the hole. FWIW on the other forum a member dyno tested a breather that did not have the restrictor plate, but did have the infamous soup bowl. Dyno results with the breather on and the breather completely...

1st time towing - Lackluster performance.

IMHO, a naturally aspirated truck has something wrong if it's belching smoke, so in light of that and your other posts, I'll vote for getting your fuel and timing set right. EGT's with over fueled naturally aspirated engines can get higher than a turbo motor. You can melt a piston, so be...

    REAR END QUESTION

Since the truck never moves when the parking brake is applied, how do the shoes wear out? The biggest worry with the parking brake is the teaspoon sized capacity. One small oil leak can ruin it in a big hurry. As far as swapping out fronts and rears from an F-Superduty to an F-350 cab &...

    10 lug front axles

Air Ride seat? No joke, my urine test showed a trace of blood when I went to get my health card renewed and the doc asked if I had been jarred around. My F-Superduty hammers me. Where do you get an airsprung seat?

1995 5.8L oil pressure sending unit

I just bought an beater F250 XLT that I couldn't pass up for $200. The thing has 263,000 on what appears to be the original engine and E4OD tranny and still runs pretty well except for the lifters rattling excessively. The oil pressure gauge doesn't even wiggle, so I pulled the wire and...

    01 f150 spark plug problem!

Don't use helicoils for sparkplugs, use inserts. After the helicoil tap I'm not sure you could use these, but this is the way to go: http://www.timesert.com/html/triton_repair2.html

New to IDI; here's my truck

I see the plug you are referring to and can't tell you for sure if that is a good location. In a nutshell, the sensor needs to be immersed in ATF. If that location threads up and doesn't interfere with any linkage, internal or external, and is below the fluid level, go for it. If it were me...

New to IDI; here's my truck

Highly incorrect about the transmission sensor. That is a BAND ADJUSTMENT! Don't mess with it! Tranny temp sensors need to go in the pan, not in the case.

    BAD vibration when towing

U-Joints Mine started vibrating and after a crawl under the truck, I couldn't see any slack by wiggling the U-joints. I had the tires balanced and rotated with no sucess either. Finally I went to my driveline shop and while putting pressure on the driveline by easing from first to reverse the...

    Does anyone want my truck?

At least it is your toilet I tell ya, I got out of the cycle of making bankers rich a long time ago. If you get rid of all your payments, eventually you can pay someone else to fix the truck! As far as toilets go, next time you go to your credit union, go to the restroom. You are the one...

same question probably....atf and diesel fuel Together!

There isn't enough difference on your ratio to matter as Old Mister Bill has already stated, usually the front is a hundredth off the rear anyway. I know Chevy used 3.07 in the front and 3.08 in the rear for most of the '80s. Think about how little the difference really is and you can see that...

    Newbie w/ 1994 F-SUPERDUTY (450) Violent/Deadly shake! Help!

My '88 F450 bucket truck did the exact same thing when I bought it. I hit a little washboard on an on ramp one day and thought I was going over the embankment at 45 MPH. I took it to the best front end shop in town and said FIX IT! Everything under the truck was tight, including the panhard...

Heeey, lookie here what I found! Aluminum Radiator for our trucks

I have a Becool in my 66 Mustang that works very well. IIRC, the aluminum two row, having larger tubes than brass radiators, has more surface area than a brass 4 row. The tubes in the brass radiators are small because they can't take the pressure if they were made as large as aluminum radiator...

    Smoke around the dipstick tube

I'd considered the valve guide seals but when I noticed the smoke around the dipstick tube, I figured it may be massive blowby. I installed a new CDR a few months ago and cleaned the oil from the intake. The oil is back. I'm not to concerned with the smoke, I just wish I didn't have to...
