Time flies when you're havin' fun! Initially didn't even notice thread was over a year, I thought it was only May-Aug.. memory has not been too kind lately.
Yeah you gotta have a 2 or 3 stage powdercoat for the chrome to hold up in the sun, single stage is cheap once you get into 2 and 3 stage it's getting close to chrome in cost.
Thanks guys.. you dont wanna know what I picked up today.. 1927 Studebaker.. she's pretty rough definitely going to be...
I've gotta be sitting around half tank now so if its going to happen after bumping fuel press. up its gotta be soon. I read that Carter is OEM liftpump so I will stick with that, good to know on the liftpump install, I didn't know you had to bump the cam into position, I did read its easier to...
Haha if life were that easy :Thumbs Up I'm teaching my kids to appreciate things, not get into debt, and if its broke.. fix it! Haha this thing is really cool gave me a love for 50's cars and a hate for restoring them.. the metal is all pot metal and my chrome hookup doesn't do potmetal gave me...
Its a '97 p-pumped 12 valve, auto trans, and its in my '73 IH Travelall with 40gal tank, I've put nearly 4k miles on it without issue.. one thing I forgot to add was I installed a TorkTek OFV but even that has atleast 2k on it by now. The fuel psi gauge is an electric glowshift (couldnt beat the...
Went to CA to pick up a vehicle last weekend (horror story) on the way home we were headed up a pretty steep hill on i10 and noticed my fuel pressure gauge getting wonky I mean this thing was all over between 0 & 30 psi was running but definitely felt it bog down when the needle went to 0...
I'm not sure but want to say head gaskets failures and cracked heads were common with those, read up years ago I've forgotten by now.. nevertheless I doubt I'd be able to find one I'm even having a hard time finding OM617s used to be able to find those whole cars for 1000 all day
Similar goals as the Travelall, 20mpg and no PCM.. so pretty much narrows it down to diesel haha.
Would love to find one at a reasonable price, even 6bt is out of our budget on this.
I read some info recently on using OM606 with an OM603 ip, that can make some solid power just not sure its...
Just scooped this baby up in Camarillo, CA yesterday, guy we picked it up from has 150+ classics, tons of 27-32 Tudors and Fordors.
Told my boy I will work on this with him and not for him.
Seeking atleast 20mpg and to be able to get out of its own way, any recommendations? I doubt an OM617...
Yep mines been acting up, relay for fuel shutoff solenoid.. been tying it up and untying to shutdown.. tried to install a manual cable (planned to but wanted to wait until after I make a new dash) my darn FSS 8mm bolts do not want to move and its helluva tight spot after the conversion.
EDIT...
Having no luck finding the next project, all these people out here are crazy and want 3 grand for a rust bucket.
Friction feeling was intake manifold rubbing against my hydroboost, not that the hoods not stuck shut I was able to pinpoint it and stuff a chunk of rubber between the 2 for now...
Swapped out original control arm bushings to Energy Suspension polyurethane, kind of wanted to take it for a test drive but decide to go full throttle onto the next repair and swapped out all the Y-style steering to 98-99 T-style steering, used all mevotech from Rockauto only set me back about...
I pulled 26mpg without a hood and no rear window yet, unbelievable! 130+ miles and tank only took 5.2 gallons.. cruising 60-65 certainly helps and oh yeah just now realized my front driveshaft is not connected (need to lengthen) I'd bet thats gonna take a toll on mpg
Couldn't tell you anything on turbo sizes but im sure just about any t3/t4 hybrid is going to be fun on there. Arizona Turbo & Tractor Supply used to sell reman'd turbos and rebuilds them, great deals and reviews, you might want to give them a call and/or see if you've got a similar local shop.
Been driving around the past 3 days, front end rebuild is next on the major list after I take care of the small stuff. Had to hack of 4" or so off of the overload springs kept making contact with the body.
It definitely had a 2 piece with carrier bearing before we shortened the frame. I loaded it up with moly and will monitor hopefully no leaks for a bit, after replacing timing cover and oil pan gaskets im getting close to 50 psi oil pressure, its previous life in the dodge never went over 40 psi
The beast lives! Wouldn't let me upload video, pulled CAC to mock up the radiator, hopefully get both back in tomorrow, and need to reclock the turbo.. after scooting the engine back with 24v mounts the charge pipe wants to hit my shock mount.
Anyone know what's up with my slipyoke setup? It...
Been slacking on updates...
Still got work to do, main thing is steering shaft needs to be lengthened. Started spraying the raptor liner through a 2.5mm hvlp, takes forever, 1 liter takes over an hour to spray and its only 1 hr potlife.. not sure if I'm going to send 10hrs making 1/2 batches...
