    Truggy Build

I originally used 3/4x7/8" heims and they held up OK but I did bend the shank on one. I switched to 1-1/4" Heims when I redid the suspension design and they're holding up great.

    Truggy Build

No such thing as a cheap budget when building something like this, there's expensive projects and projects that ruin you financially. I try to stay with the former.

    Truggy Build

Update from a year ago, Re-did both the front and rear suspension to shorten the links and get them up off the rocks. Lowered it 2" and slimmed down the frame and brackets underneath, gained almost 4" of clearance. Boat sided the cab, for a 13" gain on the corners. swapped to two piece...

    Truggy Build

I pushed the front and rear axel forward 15" and 12", my weight distribution is actually pretty even. 3000lbs rear and 3500 front, still heavy for a crawler but is fairly balanced. Spring rates are fairly soft due to the length of them.

    Truggy Build

Truggy Update, since I haven't been on here in awhile, been a hell of a fun build. Lets see if I can remember what all I've done since the last post. Re-did front suspension geometry, lowered front 5" and rear 3". Full Hydro Steering with high steer knuckles. Finished the interior...

    Truggy Build

Update on the build, axels out of a 93 f350, Dana 60/ Sterling 205 t case A Lot left to do. I want to relocate the fuel filter as it kinda sticks up high, if I move it down lower will the air bleed system not work anymore? I am trying to package everything tight to the motor so it's easier...

    Exhaust through hood?

Get a turbo first, then do it. Makes them fun to drive. Say good bye to MPG though you won't be able to keep your foot out of it.

    Truggy Build

The Frame is getting boxed in anywhere that something attaches like suspension and roll cage. Slam Latches are really hard to use when they are behind you, i didn't want to have to do the reach across to get out every time. The interior got finished over the weekend ill post some pictures...

    Radiator Relocation

I started a new thread for my whole build "Truggy Build"

    Truggy Build

So far its been doing good on 10 PSI, it almost never actually sees 10 unless I'm over 2,300 rpm and on the floor, normal driving is 3-6, its been a few months and its good so far. I have the radiator hooked back up and even without fans I wont go above 210 degrees. When its 70 outside. I...

    Truggy Build

Currently I don't have any plans to, I am only pushing 10 PSI Max. If I go to head studs I would like to get the head dressed as well and a new gasket put it.

    Truggy Build

    Here it is now.

    Truggy Build

I figured I better start a build thread and keep everything together. I started with a non-running '86 F-250, 6.9 IDI with a T-19 4-speed transmission, it would crank slow but not fire. First thing I did was strip our all the wiring (Mostly Rotted), interior, and anything that I wasn't...

    Radiator Relocation

I'll start a build thread for it, I'm about 1/2 Way through it.

    Radiator Relocation

The Radiator sits higher than the cross over, I am hoping it will just be for bleeding air. There should be enough movement I'm not way worried about it and at $23 a foot for coolant hose I'm using it sparingly.

    Radiator Relocation

Got the radiator moved, and its mostly plumbed in. I went with 2" stainless 16Ga tubing that i found for cheap, ran both down the inside of the driver side frame rail. Everything was fairly tight and took some persuasion to get in with rub pads. Hopefully ill have her running again in a few...

    Standard Solenoid for Constant Duty

It going to be a rock crawler, I'm not even sure if its going to have brake lights on it. Definitely won't have a hazard switch. So yeah everything is run from a water proof fuse box in the cab, I have 7 live circuits to run everything including lights. I wanted a HD Relay (100Amp) in front of...

    Standard Solenoid for Constant Duty

Can a Standard Starter/Glow Plug Solenoid be used as an ignition relay for constant duty? It would be my main power supply to run everything.

    no fire 6.9 idi

Mine were 395-420 on all 8. They say they will run all the way down into the 250-275 range. Definitely check the compression, before i put new glow plugs in i had to use ether or crank forever and that was at 90 degrees F. but it would still start with ether. Good luck, "Ran when it was parked...

    Early 6.9 low compression? continued...

If your compression number are that low it most likely wont start, I did mine recently and all 8 were between 395 and 420 PSI on a cold test (90 Degree Day) with the same Harbor Freight gauge set. Typically you need 250 PSI Min. to get it to fire. New starter and two 1000 Amp batteries wouldn't...

    Radiator Relocation

Are the 7.3 IDI Radiators any better? there is one at the junkyard I could probable get for $40. Id have to check if its Aluminum or not.

    Radiator Relocation

I have the wide four core radiator I am hoping that this with a dual large ford Taurus fans and custom shroud it will be enough. In reality it will usually be a low rpm low load vehicle. Oh and it has a banks waste-gated sidewinder on it as well. (best $150 buck ever spent at the junk yard) Do...

    Radiator Relocation

I'm building a custom "truggy" out of a 6.9 IDI and I'm getting ready to move the radiator behind the cab with E-Fans. Will the stock water pump be able to push this far, or do I need a inline helper pump? It will be at the same height that it sits now.
