Not talking about a twin turbo set up either. I think you've confused twin turbo with a compound system, in series, with a big low pressure turbo and a small high pressure turbo which effectively compounds the boost- Skii

Alright, so I think my injection pump has failed.... I cracked 2 injector lines at the injector, bypassed the starter solenoid and jumped the starter to crank it. Seized fan clutch!
Dude when I rebuilt mine I couldn't get it off either. Literally just left the fan attached to the water pump and pulled the whole thing. Worst case scenario, these fans would lock while engaged so your only problem would be fan operation during highway speeds causing over cooing- Skii

So I did not time the pump, I aligned the gears when I re installed it. Then turned it up. Granted, the low range cam I got would probably be best with a little bit of retarded timing huh. I have good fuel pressure, a new fuel filter, and little to no smoke except on startup. No black, no white...- Skii

My original injectors are actually BB code, I still have them might get them rebuilt in time. and the lift pump is red, I think it's made by Holley. IP was the stock pump from when I bought the truck. Never had any problems with it before and a new one from r&d was over 700 bucks so I just...- Skii

Actually, possibly. I forgot the cdr valve was right in front of that compressor housing. Might actually have been it. Well shit, now that I've rebuilt the turbo....:kick:- Skii

Well I wish I could say so, but I could visibly see the oil inside the compressor housing.... lining the intake manifold, ect. Not sure why that turbo seal failed....- Skii

Ok I've been here. Kinda. So mine was sputtering real bad, kinda sounded like a pitter-patter kinda sound once it warmed up, just overall ran kinda random. I was burning 1 qt of oil every 100 miles. Tore engine down for rebuild to find 2 broken piston rings, like completely missing a 3/4 inch...- Skii

All I'm gonna say on this one is if you ever get a banks sidewinder and get to the point it needs a rebuild, good freakin luck. Hmu, cause I rebuilt mine, but holy cow was it hard to find parts. Ignorant diesel newbie needs coolant help
Im a diesel tech at a Goodyear Commercial center, and in big rigs (and my truck as well) we always try to run rotella ELC. Its red, a hybrid oat. YOU CANNOT, REPEAT, CANNOT. identify a coolant by the color or taste or smell. The only way to be 100% sure is to draining and refill, or if...- Skii

blown front diff
These twin I beams suck...from what I remember when I put new u joints in the axles will pull right out. They are a pain in the ass to get to (between the kings) I think I had to take my whole wheel ends off just to be able to remove the axle. Food for thought- Skii

Journey, This is my first time majorly tinkering with one of these engines, but I've found that taking the turbo off is not the hard part... Putting it back on while the engine was in the truck was a TOTAL. PAIN. But anyways, yea my tranny was no fun to get out. Couldn't access the bolts...- Skii
