A new fuel pin will help A lot, adjust the full fuel screw. Adjust smoke output accordingly with the star wheel as needed.

The stock turbo is a he351cw. As for the fleece cheetah they are nice units but rather pricey. There are other modified stockers to choose from. There's tater built turbos and the steath series. All good choices.
I do have a spare frame sitting out back I may wind up cleaning and boxing it in. Then when the time comes I may axle swap and fit the drive train. We'll see how it goes.
I have the factory 06 rear axle and a Dana 60 front that will be converted to radius arm and coil springs. And the front springs from the 06 are actually already in the 79 to support the boss snow plow.

Engine starts and runs already on my homemade run stand. I've already got the harness almost done. It fits in the engine bay really well actually. The 1/2 ton frame is plenty stout to support the torque of engine. I do realize it's not a common swap and I have alot of time and not alot of money...
I'm new to this forum but not new to diesels. I've been tossing around the idea of putting a 6.0 in my 79. Just here to gather some knowledge and hopefully share some as well.
