6.9 IDI and 4WD ZF5 with transfer case FS $1000

This is a 6.9 IDI out of my 1985 F250. I swapped in the ZF and transfer case, ZF originally out of an F450 Super Duty, had a parking brake on it so I switched it out for the Borg Warner 1356 transfer case. Come to think of it, I could also sell the trans with the driveline brake in place of the...

    6.9 idi with zf5 trans

Maybe a little. The friction plate was about $160 and I got the pressure plate on clearance for $35, but had to have the flywheel cut. The only benefit was avoiding the debate on whether a 7.3 flywheel on a 6.9 results in a balance issue. Prepare yourself for the noise! Sent from my iPhone...

    6.9 idi with zf5 trans

I was able to use my 6.9 flywheel and a pressure plate for a 6.9, and had clutchnet make me a friction disc with the 6.9 diameter and the larger ZF splines. You will need to lengthen the clutch pushrod 5/8” (.625”) to account for the thinner flywheel with the ZF clutchfork location.

Zf5 cross reference between IDI and psd.

Thank you! I’ve got the T-19 in my ‘85 6.9 F250, and picked up a ZF out of an F450 with the parking brake. Initially I was going to use it and convert to rear discs, but when I saw how steep the reverse gear is in the ZF, I realized a transfer case would give me a real nice granny reverse when...

Zf5 cross reference between IDI and psd.

Not to threadjack, but if you have the Superduty/F450 ZF trans with the parking brake, which transfer case would swap onto it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

6.9 decked .05 bored .40 over want to run boost!!

You can reuse the head gaskets as long as they are not heat cycled. Torquing them down to Clay the piston will not ruin them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
