If it was a diesel with dual tanks I might consider it

'93 F250 rear harness total mess.....

It' my signature '93 F250. It has the towing package with all the fuses and relays under the hood. The donor truck harness came from a '93 F350 with a 460. Guess I'll have to do a pin by pin check on both firewall plugs for proper wire placement. Anyone have a decent harness available??

'93 F250 rear harness total mess.....

Months and months ago I started a thread on the condition of my rear taillight and brake harness, I couldn't find it so I'll start over. It's really not repairable, after doing more of an internet search I discovered that my original harness had 2 plugs, 1 for trailer lights and the other for...

    Fuel tank wiring.

Pegging out over full usually means the ground side of the circuit has been lost. The ground side should use a black wire. Mine was broken close to the tank, I added a piece in and connected to the floor under the truck until I can locate another rear harness that hasn't been butchered like mine.

Swapping to newer model I Beams

Finally located parts from a '93 F350 dually. My concern is the rear axle swap. I have not measured either truck, but from past knowledge from other folks the frame on the dump should be narrower than the dually's frame. I have the equipment to move the spring seats(just didn't want too)...

    Need you electrical gurus....

I crawled under the beast yesterday and moved the wires around. That seems to have helped, so Weds I'm off in search of a harness. I bet its going to be hard to find a '92-93 ext cab diesel harness with dual tanks...wish me luck.

    Need you electrical gurus....

My '93 has developed a strange electrical problem. With the park lights on and the right turn signal something is causing a back feed or ground problem that is affecting the fuel solenoid in the IP. The truck will start to buck, jump and lose power, as soon as you turn the turn the park lights...

Swapping to newer model I Beams

I'd buy a rolling donor truck and swap the entire I beam and hub assemblies along with the rear axle.

Swapping to newer model I Beams

The '81 F350 dump needs kingpins and finding another set of "coined" 16" wheels has been fruitless. I took the 16"s off the dump to use on the RV getting rid of it's 16.5" wheels. The 16.5's are on the dump right now to keep it rolling. So here is my question.. Can newer ball joint style I beams...

    6.9 or 7.3 swap '81 F350

Think I'll pull the heads off the 400m for a valve job and call it good for now. While I'm tearing into it throw a clutch in it too. I'll keep looking for a donor truck since this is supposed to be a future project....lol

    6.9 or 7.3 swap '81 F350

Ok... The truck in OK I passed on, the owner didn't seem to be telling all he knew. Here is another prospect not that far from me... What ya think? https://springfield.craigslist.org/cto/5944322710.html

With the new look.. how to upload photos now?

Since I'm old and PC stupid(and I don't wanna get in trouble again),what's the process for posting photos now?? I didn't see the former "advanced" key.

    6.9 or 7.3 swap '81 F350

No, it's a 2wd cab and chassis with a dump bed.. I missed the perfect donor ...1984 f350 with a 6.9 and 4x4. For the price it has everything I need for the swap, the seller says he just got it and knows nothing about it. I only use the '81 here on the farm, it needs too much work to make it road...

    6.9 or 7.3 swap '81 F350

I may have found a donor truck for my F350 swap... It's 2 hrs away and pretty cheap... With my luck the 6.9 is shot.. I may go look at it before I decide to buy. What do I need to look at besides water in the oil and vice versa?? What do ya think...

    AC components

Buy a good dryer from a parts house. You will get some kind of warranty. These truck convert pretty easy to 134A. I converted my sig truck and it's working well. I suggest getting NAPA's a/c flush and flushing all the pieces. Let dry and then use plenty of compressed air to remove all the flush...

MPG Expected for a 1991 4x4 diesel with ZF??

What a scumbag...The same thing happened to me buying my truck.. On the way there he told me that some other guys were coming to look at it and I would be the 1st since I contacted him 1st.. Well they got there b4 I did and he let them take the truck for a test drive. The wife and I patiently...

    Long trip to NC

Sorry, this is the first chance I've had to report. We left Sun morn early and got to Nashville late afternoon to spend the night with family. The first tank was fuel in mom's truck burnt fast, under 10 mpg pulling an empty 16ft stock trailer. Next tank was just over 11 mpg and have had as high...

    Long trip to NC

Went and got the truck and trailer today. Drove along the I49 interstate coming back from getting the trailer about 10 miles. Stayed around 65 mph, barely felt the trailer, but since the trans has been redone it seems to wind a few more rpm's before it shifts. This may be in my mind, but I have...

    Long trip to NC

I'm not really convinced the 4r100 is that good.lol. The e4od under my ole 95 Bronco was flawless. Pulled more weight many times and survived being submerged in 4 ft of water in creek when it was stolen.. but I digress. Rather use my IDI but it's not been timed yet and the PSD gets better...

    Long trip to NC

My dear lovely wife has me leaving on a 1,000 mile trip Sunday. We will be using my mother's '01 F250 7.3l with the E4od trans pulling a 16ft stock trailer. The truck has 141K and had the trans redone about 20-25K miles ago. Not sure why the trans quit Dad back then, think it was a botched trans...

    6.9 or 7.3 swap '81 F350

Ford bolt patterns are different. A quick tutorial ... 250(6), 289w, 300(6), 302w, 351w, 351c have the same pattern. 351/400m, 429, 460 have the same.. there are a few early 289's that have a 5 bolt pattern.. I was just hoping that I could use what I have from the bell housing back, but I'll...

    6.9 or 7.3 swap '81 F350

From my gasser experience the 460 and the 400m have the same bolt pattern. Just don't know if there is enough room for the flywheel and clutch, plus the mechanical vs hydraulic clutch.

    Project Big Red

If your new panels aren't damaged, you can 320 grit DA sand the black primer. Then spray a sealer coat, let it tack dry, start with the color coat and then clear. Even with areas that need a little filler you don't have to prime the entire panel, that just adds more film build which can cause...
