You can't compare the dimensions of the 460 to the idi, fatter taller and longer.
The crown vic suspension will never support the 1000 lb. idi.
If your looking for a nice street rod go with the 302/351.
Just my opinion
If your looking to do it the right way you'll have all your hoses redone using barrier hose, otherwise the r134a will leak out through the hose itself.
Also consider your old system uses an expansion valve for a metering device, this should be upgraded to a newer one while your at it.

I think you should give some more thought to your tire choice.
285 75 16 are a stretch on stock 7" rims, 315s I think will be a problem especially if you air down off road.
I used the Viper 211HV in my Thunderbird and it's been working flawless for abt. 5 yrs. now.
Shop around some, I'm pretty sure I got mine abt. $10 cheaper than what Amazon shows.
I use Biobor biocide to kill the algae at which point I'd have to change filters out ,2 spin ons, 1 by the tank and the other under the hood.
Now after the Biobor kills the agae I'm using Power Service Klear Diesel which breaks down the dead algae where it passes through and gets burnt.
It's...
The ar is pretty close to the 1st. gen Banks non wg. turbo at .60 compressor and 1.0 turbine, 10-12 lbs. boost max but doesn't really spool until 1200-1400 rpm in stock form.
You could talk to Russ (aka typ4) about the possibility of a compressor mod like he does on the non wg. Banks.
I'm not quite sure what your saying so let me do this....
Set your timing light to 8 deg., bring motor up to 2000 rpm and point your timing light at the timing marks, the mark on the damper should line up with the 0 on the tab.
If it does not, adjust your ip a little at a time until you get the...
Was just thinking you'll need your truck timed after new pump and injectors and if you were close enough I could help you out.
Your probably abt. 3 hrs. from me.
With the horror going on in Texas and the fact we live on the edge of a flood zone down here I started thinking about how deep of water could I safely get through.
This is considering that all diff, trans and transfer case vents have been routed higher and a certain amount of waterproofing to...
Yes, Banks used Rotomaster turbos on they're early kits.
Typ4 did the compressor mod on mine and it made a huge difference in boost starting right off idle and easily peg my 15 lb. boost gauge.
Other than the valves leaving little "reliefs" in my pistons I had no damage to rockers, valves or pushrods.
So...as I explained, I had solid contact piston to valve just turning the motor over by hand leaving little damage.
I have to assume the lifters absorbed the hits.
Now think of the...
There's at least three of us on this thread that have had problems installing the TYP4 cam and I can tell you mine had nothing to do with valve float.
I pulled my motor down a second time because I suspected a problem and found dents in all of my pistons.
Using the clay method to check clearance...
