    fuel filter drain

First run since flushing the seat valve per icanfixall's suggestion is positive. Looks like that did the trick, no leak after a 20 mile trip. Thanks!

    fuel filter drain

No leaks from the top or the filter o-rings. No fuel anywhere on filter body, no fuel on the wide part of the gray fuel filter portion where it contacts the filter. Only on the very bottom. Haven't had a chance to run it since I flushed the drain per icanfixall's suggestion.

    fuel filter drain

Just verified the leak is not from either fuel filter o-ring. It doesn't seem to leak at idle or when the motor is cold. Cracked the drain with motor off, only got a few drops. Cracked the drain with motor on, mech. lift pump working well. The barbed fuel outlet swivels freely at all times.

    fuel filter drain

I've got a leak under the fuel filter. I did a search and found a potential problem in the drain, but didn't find the fix. Any help?

    Electric pump mounting- fuel lines

Just got my Carter today and haven't been under the truck with it yet. I'll be trying to put mine just ahead of the xmission crossmember. The fuel hard line to the mech pump runs below the motor and the return is mostly rubber coming down from the top of the engine and goes to steel inside the...

    Stock Lift pump vs Electric

P4594. I had looked at the various existing connections and decided to remove all OEM stuff between new pump and filter head. Loomed flex hose and barb fittings sound like a quick and semi-easy install. Thanks for the 1/4" NPT info. Currently planning for power via rocker switch on the dash...

    Stock Lift pump vs Electric

I've got a Carter being shipped. I'll try to build in extra time for pix and notes during install. Anybody know the thread size going into the filter head? I'm thinking of bypassing the hardpipe altogether.

    instrument cover alternative?

Thanks for the references. Although NPDs nice price is ~$100.00 over what I think it's worth. Guess I'll be doing a little custom fab work.

    instrument cover alternative?

After 15 years of Florida sun, my dash plastics are giving out, especially the instrument cover. Seems like every time I cross a RR track, I hear another snap. Just got off the phone with Ford parts dept., let's just say I won't be buying their replacement. I haven't found any other source...

Front driveline - pics - take a look

$65.95 for a single for your year truck with <33" tires from Mel's link. Should be a bolt-on that could be done later.

new ip... still won't start when hot

Drove the truck home today temp was normal, shut it off, went for the fan as Mel suggested, got sidetracked and 30 minutes later, no fan and no start. At least it's consistent. So, I'm looking at the A/C and following the wiring and the ip wiring and I find an oval plug with a ~1" square w/ a...

The water treatment doesn't work on the new pump. Thanks,

new ip... still won't start when hot

Seems to run fine after it starts. Before I did the ip it would start immediately cold and only with the water treatment when hot. Now, cold it turns over a couple times ~2-3 sec. before starting. Won't start hot at all now, although it did the first week after ~8-10sec. of cranking. I put a...

new ip... still won't start when hot

ok. I figure air intrusion. No obvious leaks. IF it is air intrusion, why does it start after it has cooled down. An air bubble is an air bubble hot or cold, right? maybe? And I still don't know why the A/C compressor won't engage since ip install (no power to the plug, fuse is good #6 on ckt w/...

    after ip install...no A/C

Clutch does NOT engage. Connections are on, I just reseated them. I guess I need a VOM to test for voltage out of the connectors. I did verify the fuse was good.

    after ip install...no A/C

So, ip install went OK, only now I've got no A/C. I did move the hose and line that are against the firewall to get enough clearance to R/R the ip assembly. I don't see any leaks anywhere. Any ideas? Thanks, Bill

    Chargeing Issues Still Here

what voltage do you have right at the alternator? does it change if you disconnect the leads to the regulator? what are the voltages at the regulator/ incoming and outgoing?

    Battery drain problem (again)

A faulty ignition lock cylinder was the culprit in my case, but that shoudn't cause the courtesy lights to stay on. Might try checking the door switchs and dome light switch. Good luck.

    IP Swap

The ip I just replaced on my '94 ran fine, no perceived loss of power, no increased smoke, etc. just would'nt start when hot without the water treatment. My old '91 developed heavy smoke under load/acceleration, noticable loss of power continuing depreciation, but would always start, hot or...

    IP Swap

An old 9/16 " 12 point box end wrench (preferably offset) ground down a third or half depth will make life easier for r/r the bottom 2 mounting nuts. An extra pair of hands would be useful to clear the hard lines past the cowl also. Overall, not a big deal.

    ip goin...how long?

Update: install went fairly straightforward. My biggest challenge was on the 2 bottom 9/16 nuts holding the ip. Next time I do this I'll modify a box end wrench, preferably offset, by grinding it to half it's depth. The only other difficulty was removing the assembly, just wasn't much clearance...

My replacement IP just arrived, where do I get the 16pt socket to remove and reinstall it with? Also, do I need to use a thread sealer for the plumbing hardware? Thanks, Bill
