    This is a good one

Yes Brett. You usually need at least some fuel for the ether to work.

    Are these adaptors?

Nothing to be alarmed about. Someone has repaired or extended the hose. The left side is indeed a standard push-lok nipple. Used with the appropriate hose they don't even need a clamp. Good for high pressure too.

    Best clutch hydraulics

Good point Subway. The piston must return to expose that fill port. I added a small spring under the dash to help with that. The large compression spring installed at manufacture just wasn't doing the job. I think it had plastic ends at one time, connecting it to the pivots. Must have broken and...

    6.9 diesel won't start, 1984 F-250

I think IDIBRONCO nailed it. His post is very well written. My pin and sleeve connectors were burned-up too. I spent lots of time cleaning and repairing the individual wire ends. Maybe, as you said, they should just be spliced together. Thanks BRONCO!

6.9 IDI-what kind of battery charger do I get from

My junkyard friend saves old dead smart chargers for me to fix and return to him. I take out the smart board and discard it. Then I rearrange the wires, and write "not used" on the face plate by the now disconnected switch. The chargers enjoy a new life as dumb units. Once in a while I need to...

    Cooling system flush

I'd avoid anything weird. Just flush with clean water. The antifreeze you put in next should stop any further rusting. Choose antifreeze and SCA that get along with one another, and stick with those forever. Don't mix products and don't try-out weird things. I love my fine IH engine!

    Block heater thought?????

Any heat we add to our engines helps. Go ahead with the magnetic pan heater if you don't want to repair the stock element. My employer has big Cat engines in the tugboats. They have tank heaters like U2slow mentioned. BIG heaters. They run on 208 V 3 phase AC shore power. But we also have half a...

    Water in oil

I paid a shop to bore and sleeve all eight cylinders, and assembled the engine myself, with new stock dimension pistons. Machine work and parts cost $1,800. I diagnosed by putting shop air into the glow plug holes one at a time, and observing the open radiator. Only one cylinder leaked. Number...
