I will speak out against moving the glow plugs ground to the ground for the relay and letting your pushbutton supply ground. You'll end up introducing a bunch of resistance and your pushbutton will arc and fail and you'll be pulling a bunch of amperage through the wrong wiring.
The glowplugs...
Yes. When I finally pull off my RV batteries, there is zero rust and corrosion on any of the wire terminals so long as I've maintained a good coating. I don't slather it, but I make sure everything has a good film on it.
Also in response to the OP - borrow an amp tester from autozone if you...
I strongly prefer marine connections on batteries. I got into the habit on my RV, and have never looked back. For regular batteries you can crimp marine ends onto your cables, and then make a good clean snug connection with a marine terminal adapter using dielectric grease (think vaseline) on...
This is my 2wd 1992 van - but with the help of the wife replaced orings with viton from mcmaster/carr, replaced return lines with clear tubing, and clamped everything.
She's oil-tight now.
In other news, love working on diesels with the wife. That brings a couple closer - especially if she...
Glad to hear it.
Wife and I just replaced our whole set of o-rings and return lines on the 7.3 IDI van. We had some significant leaks, which all turned out to be deteriorating fuel line ends. We replaced all the o-rings with viton rings from McMaster/Carr and the return fuel lines with...
Just picked up a new toy.
Haven't even laid eyes on it yet - f250 (I am pretty sure 250) 7.3IDI ZF5 4x4 (and that's about all I know) - bad injector pump I believe, but I have a spare.
Seller dropped it off at my farm, wife paid for it. Figured for a grand, I can't go far wrong.
$1000...
Can you send me pics of your front end? I would love wheel off with frame jacked up if you have any - otherwise pictures of the shackle, spreader, spring etc.
Wow ok holy smokes.
So I found something I've been after for a while now - a koenig toolbox truck bed on an old f350/f450 frame. My goal was to have a nice big toolbox trailer, mount an air tank and propane tank, load tools on it, build a gasoline powered air compressor head - etc. and so...
Hm I have to think about this. Is my 7.3 "reliable" ?
In a way I guess I am more of an engineer and a pilot than I am a passenger waiting for a dummy light to go on. If his idea of reliable is neglect it until something stops working, don't bother. You'll get another 25k out of an engine...
dash diesel warning Bezel for 2003 (post 2002) e350 (not sure what trucks would have the same)
all of my parts are van parts, so if anyone needs a van part that's something I am good for =)
Thank you kindly, but not sure if yours would fit - I'm a van guy. I need the one for the e350 (with the square end at the aircleaner) which is another special snowflake.
My daily drive : I call it Hobart (named after the big mixers I grew up around)
1993 E350 7.3 IDI E4OD
I got it about a month ago - paid 1850 for it.
Replaced broken injector line
relubed fuel return lines, replaced a few leaking o-rings
cleaned/painted/replaced injector vibration...
Very handsome truck. I'm pretty jealous of how complete the "parts the previous owners always lose" list is there. You've even got the cold air intake plastic duct which in about 5 vehicles I have yet to see a trace of.
My quick once over doesn't see any stray wiring chopup either. That's...
well gravity bleeding can work but you need to fill the hose with fluid first. it's possible for air to get in while fluid comes out, just like pouring milk out of a jug.
I bled the RABS - had forgotten all about that.
I've got a little bit of MC slip now, but the brakes are good and...
There are two deleted lines on my vacuum tree. One I would assume was cruise control because it's an option - the other though is big, and looks like a vacuum can connection. I remember what you're talking about with the ball stuck on the hood.
I'm in the middle of replacing my failed...
Update and Quick question - there's no vacuum accumulator on this vehicle right? 1993 IDI 7.3 E350.
I don't see an accumulator ball anywhere. and I've traced all the vacuum hoses. None of the other sources for info have cleared this up for me.
Update is :
Bled all lines, brakes are...
My very first work on a diesel engine resulted in my breaking a glow plug into a cylinder. I use the engine for parts, never did manage to get that thing out. I trust this will go better for you.
Also if noone else mentioned it - the cheap return kits have flimsy collars that flex too much...
