    Engine pics?

There's quite a few pics in my engine rebuild thread https://www.oilburners.net/threads/head-gasket-replacement-turns-into-a-total-rebuild.77694/

wanted: someone who can work on a R12 system in College Station area.

Yep, pretty much the same stuff as envirosafe. Nothing works better in an R-12 system, not even original R-12.

wanted: someone who can work on a R12 system in College Station area.

I doubt it, I always charge by weight, particularly with envirosafe as high side pressures are lower than original R-12 specs.

wanted: someone who can work on a R12 system in College Station area.

I hear ya, I have a vacuum pump and gauges, and the first couple of envirosafe jobs I did I pulled and held a vacuum first, as you'd do with any other refrigerant. I blew an o-ring on my benz and lost everything and thought "what the hell, I'll try it without pulling a vacuum first" the...

wanted: someone who can work on a R12 system in College Station area.

How about you? Get system evacuated (should be almost free for r-12 recovered or around $40). Open system to air (yes I said open to air) maybe add a few ozs of mineral oil if you think a lot has leaked out, fill with recommended amount of envirosafe and voila! you're nice and cool ...

    Balancing a 6.9 rotating assembly

I paid $350 to get mine balanced, this was almost two years ago. the difference before and after is noticeable, there's less vibration at idle and at speed.

    IDI/Windstar Electric Fan conversion help

I thought I should update this thread. I've removed the electric fans and gone back to a mechanical fan with a US MOTOR WORKS 22601 fan clutch. I love the idea of the e-fans, the higher engine temps are great for burning alternative fuels, BUT! the e-fans just cannot keep my truck from over...

    rings?

X 2 on the sealed power. One thing I wish I'd done is order one size over rings, or even 7.3 rings and then hand gap the rings individually. The rings come pre-gapped these days so if you have a cylinder that is on the large edge of spec and a ring that was cut on the large end of spec, the...

    Rabs problem?

Maybe plug the rabs connector back in and see if they still lock up, if so I'd try power bleeding a couple of quarts of brake fluid through the rabs valve and the rears--maybe you'll get lucky and bow some crud out! I assumre the fronts are unaffected?

    Alternative diesel fuel

I've run 1000's of gallons of WVO in my Benz and my IDI. all of it centrifuged and de-watered with a fluid driven centrifuge. I run two-tank systems and start and shut down on diesel or bio-diesel. I would like to clean up some wmo and add a quart or so per fill up to my diesel tank just to...

First impression towing with 6.9 NA

Back to the brake issue. Our front calipers have these horrid, rubber filled, metal rails that need to be greased all the time or your front brake pads will drag constantly. It's probably not the major issue you're having, but do it anyway as it most likely needs it. Pull the calipers off...

First impression towing with 6.9 NA

Pretty close to floored, though I can hit just over 70 on flats without wind if I need to pass someone.

First impression towing with 6.9 NA

My freshly rebuilt 6.9 will pull my 4500 lb. travel trailer along all day at 63mph, 3000 rpm, though hills will slow it down. Mileage hauling is between 10 & 12, empty I never really pay attention because it is short trips or plowing snow. I don't mind the 6.9 but my 99 powerstroke is a whole...

    Radiator advice?

Just to put this out there. I believe two 1" rows cools better than three or four smaller rows. I have this "American Eagle" by champion in my truck. I tow heavy in hot weather and have had zero problems keeping cool...

    Single shot injectors and WMO?

What specific gravity range was working for you? what did you blend to achieve it?

    Transmission Oil Change

If your trans is an aluminum cased ZF-5 (that's what it should be) you can switch back to the proper ATF no problem, if you are concerned about the residual oil after draining you can; drain the oil, refill with ATF, run for 1000 miles drain again, then refill with new ATF. There is no filter...

wrist pin bore on IDIT pistons

I don't remember seeing anything like that on my 6.9 pistons (old ones or the new replacements)

    rolling 500,000 today :)

Since you are getting your oil at TSC you might as well get the house brand Traveller 15W-40, in the states it's made by Warren, I have seen analysis of the oil showing it is actually better than Rotella in terms of it's additive package, I use it it all my diesels (I change on the severe...

    Vibration in the rear

I just went through this, spinning the driveline by hand, driveline in the truck, the carrier sounded fine. When I took the driveline out I gave the carrier a good spin and it was obvious something was up. My u-joints were all dry as well(un greaseable spicers) so I ordered three new...

T19 only grinds going into 4th gear

If you don't want to rebuild learn to float between 3rd and 4th. A lot of times if you keep your rpms up when shifting it will go right into 4th even if you haven't completely matched shaft rpms. I'd wait till I had another reason to pull the tranny/engine and rebuild or do a zf swap then.

    Buying 99 7.3 F350 flatbed 4x4...maybe

First repair completed today, fixing parking brake. I feared the worst, but turned out to be 5 minutes under the truck with a brake adjuster spoon & done, AWESOME!

    Single shot injectors and WMO?

If you get the WMO clean, meaning really, really, really, clean with a centrifuge clean; and you get the viscosity right by blending with the right amount of RUG it shouldn't make much difference what injector you use, but you will still need to use a severe duty maintenance schedule because of...

    6.9 aftermarket water separator

I believe water separators are supposed to have fuel sucked through them as opposed to having fuel pushed through. So the separators should be before the fuel pump. That's how I did mine and it works great!
