I remember a thread where there was a picture of the different ways a glow plug can look coming out of an engine...
Carbon build up
white residue
broken tips
ect..
i cannot find this for the life of me. Does this thread exist? I'm personally dealing with whitish discoloration on...
New Fl1995 filter and fresh Delo. If I didn't do it i'd be hearing all sorts of weird idle's and vibrations...piece of mind is worth the cost of oil and a filter.
I had been looking at the Liquid-Moly stuff and I thought this was along the same lines. I want that Mitsu to last, truck too. Russ btw would you do rebuilds on the injectors for the 4D56? I was curious, if that issue arises, that you'd be a source for a rebuild. Thanks for the input.
Thanks, I know I won't be able to relax until i change it again. I guess I'm gonna send back the other two bottles (one for the 4D56 Turbo Diesel in the Mitsu van and one for the Camry.) I'm just trying to find out if it's a "you did what?! get it out now!" kinda situation. Late-night non-sober...
So, I got sucked into buying some Bestline engine treatment a couple of nights ago. I added it to the crankcase in the truck, and now upon further research I am wondering if I didn't just screw up and make it worse. It was fresh Delo 400 that I added it too, and i'm questioning wether to drain...
So from what I know about Quigley is that the Retro-fit stock and with 4 wheel drive and the camper components. They cost a bundle new, but not as much as a big ol' motorhome. And you can get up into the woods. That van is a doomsday beast! 4x4 vans are pretty scarce, and at 2200! people seem to...
Hey! Welcome and congrats on the new truck. It for sure is gonna haul anything you need from HD home for yaLOL
I have the E4od too, and while no means an expert i've looked into the common problems and the Tach sensor, Speedo sensor and FPIL/TPS is super crucial to the tranny shifting right. I...
Reminds me of a CL ad I saw where a guy was wanting to trade a This swapped into a That, and said he'd only accept a IDI for trade if the glove box was hard to close due all the cash stuffed inside it.LOL
Like you said, with the plow and the low milage..I would think it sat a lot. That...
Yeah, with POR, the prep is real important too. I don't see the point of buying expensive paint and not running an inexpensive wire wheel or cup brush over the rust real good first. I try to clean it up as much as I can before I use the de-greaser, then the metal prep and finally POR...
Great thread, I'm starting to wonder if mine will be as bad around those bolt holes as yours. It would be prudent to have one sourced and ready when I pull mine out. I'd hate to have my only support fall apart on the way out and not be able to fix it.
Looks like this job would be the...
Finally got a chance to look at the Batt cables and wire brushed all hot leads on the solenoid and terminals till shiny then coated with vaso and re-assembled, same with ground at radiator and PRESTO!;Sweet She fired right up. I'll be getting new cables soon but with the other two cars we have...
Ahh, thanks man. I didn't even look at them, but I will now. I cleaned up the posts on the batt's themselves real good before putting the back in. Good thing my birthday is coming up, i'll be able to squeak some money farts out that no one will notice. I've thrown more money at the truck lately...
No problem! I'm always a little confused anyway. LOL
Yeah you picked up a nice and clean one from out west right? I'm gonna be watching that thread for sure.;Sweet
I'm gonna do that next, along with checking the fusible links (gotta find them first..) and tearing into the column to look a the ignition switch. I tried to jump her off the solenoid on the fender, but got nada yet again.
So a couple of pics from the weekend. Found some crispy wiring..thought that was my "no power" issue....
Fixed 'em with butt-splices and heat-shrink...and some new wire loom..(plastic crap..)
and then i decided to POR my rusty a$$ battery trays...before..
after......
after...
Thanks;Sweet I'll watch what you're doing. My core support isn't falling apart bad...but if I don't get proactive (or PORactive..LOL) on it it will be shot before the rest of the truck is. Without a doubt the rustiest part on my truck.
Is there by chance a thread on taking the core support out? Just wondering. I'd like to pull mine and POR-15 the crap outta it, but it seems like a fairly involved job.
So, last week went outside to start her up and NOTHING. No cab light, dash-lights...nada:mad:. Pulled both batt's tested them indepedently on the bench and the both had good charge. Put them back in the truck and NOTHING. My ignition has been crappy and loose since I bought the thing, could this...
but also, i'm not in a very cold climate. In that case the heat might be a welcome thing.:D It was in the winter here when I did it though. No problem getting them out and they were OEM, along with most of the things i've taken off my 310,000 truck.
Good Luck, just go slow.
