Thanks for the replies guys.
From what I can see the hardest part about the front end is going to be the lead hangers. Going to have to drill new holes for them, and weld the fronts. Seeing as the 2wd trucks are coil front end.
Also- turns out the truck is actually a short box, so I'm going to...
Hey fellas, I'm sad to announce that I rolled my old Idi....and it's time to move on.
I've found a new truck to start on and I've got a few questions.
My Idi was 4wd Dana 60 swapped standard (zf5). Manual transfer case. Lucky everything underneath the body survived during the crash so it's all...
Why would that kill my water pump?
I've ran them before without any issues...
Do you mean that just because the water pump will be working harder?
And I have a brand new motorcraft thermostat I just installed, and a brand new water pump..it's not about maintaining running temp it's about warmup...
Been loooking EVERYWHERE for a set of these guys....I have a leather bra I usually rock in the winter to help heat up the old rig, but it's shrunk since last year and I much prefer this look:)
If anyone wants so sell/ship me a set of these or knows where I could possibly order them from please...
Hey fellas....looking at some guidance in replacing the window washer fluid pump. Managed to stead one off an f150 (same year) so I'm hoping it's the same? If not no big deal I'll go buy a new one.
It was quite difficult to remove the pump from the f150 parts truck, and was wondering if there's...
Ok so with the max fuel screw apparently maxed....and with the torque screw threaded out about 3/16" and the Wastegate capped, I'm pushing 10max it seems. That's when I really get on it.
Not as much smoke in higher Rpms but **** does it ever dump it I hit it too early....cleans up around...
Hey guys, I've got the IP open right now and the adjustment screw doesn't want to move....I'm scared to put more torque on it in fear of damaging the pump?
I don't remember these screws being to stiff?
Thoughts?
On a seperate note- does anyone know of someone who has experience timing these engines here on Vancouver Island? I wouldn't mind doing it by the books at some point....would love to watch and learn.
That's the impression I was under? I thought that the stock Wastegate setting on these idis was 7-8 therefore not allowing more boost without modification regardless of fuel supply?
i was under the impression that my truck was running over-fueled, and underboosted? hence the smoke.
most of what ive read says that the factory wastegate setting sits around 7-8 lbs? i know i dont have a boost leak, i just finished pulling everything apart and reasealing it all.
Forgot to add- my timing IS advanced. About 1/8" from the little notch on the gear housing. Maybe just under that. I also time my engine by ear/engine behavior.
Ok. So from what you guys have said, I think im gonna aim for about 13lbs. As I already have the fuel turned up and I can send a decent cloud of **** off out the tailpipe right now...I'll leave that. I recon I'll probably be able to get up to 13lbs by adjusting the wastegate alone.
Im not sure...
Hey fellas. (And ladies if there are any)
I've got my 92 7.3 turboed with a factory setup from a 93.
Right now it's at the factory setting pushing 8lbs max.
I DO have a boost gauge and I DO have a pyrometer.
The truck is running a 3" downpipe and 3" straight pipe from there to a side exit. I...
So upon further inspection, it is indeed the turbo hat (snail) that is leaking....the o-ring that seats it to the intake manifold is completely shot/torn, and is poking out between the snail and intake in the back....
So obviously I need to reseal this...I tried to remove it on its own, but I...
Not sure if those photos are clear enough, but the oil is spattered around where I'm pointing at, right beside the entrance to the intake manifold. My throttle cable, and cruise control cable are soaked.
