    First small batch of WMO

I use a home water filter setup. Let the big stuff and water settle in my truck mounted 100 gal collection tank, then a bottom sump hose to dump the impurities/water out. Once those have run out, I put the WMO into 5 gal buckets through sieves from usplastics from around 500 microns down to...

6.9 loss of power stalls then dies

What brand of fuel pump, and how new is it? There's quote a few stories on here about parts-store pumps crapping out quickly. I had it happen too.

    1991 F250 E4OD Super Cab

I can knock off transportation costs right now, otherwise I'm booked up on weekends for a while. Still needs batteries to get going. I only have one spare marine batt to throw at it. I did have it up on craigslist a while ago... Yes, there is surface rust on the frame where the bed was...

    1991 F250 E4OD Super Cab

1992 F250 E4OD Super Cab 2wd Well, it needs work. #1 cyl exh valve is chuffing, return lines leak, no bed, and tranny makes a weird noise going into gear from neutral. It'll drive anywhere, just add batteries. Work done on it: Steering links Shocks Front brakes Brake master New...

    Fuel filter vacuum sensor?

Look in the tech section for the how to. It's basically a remove, drill, tap, and plug fix. Not nagging, but please try using google to search the forum by typing "heater plug site:oilburners.net"

Voltage drop in cab with load (blower motor)

Should be easy with a potentiometer and 555 timer running a big transistor. That'd also be a good way to divorce the motor and dash wiring. Great, another side project lol...

FL-1995 It's a PSD filter but works for us. Toss in an extra quart since it's bigger

Hairbrained idea for cheap timing meter/onboard display

Still haven't given up on it. Tried a LM386 to a full bridge rectifier and just got noise from the stock sensor. The raw waveform looks like a fourier, or compound sine wave. That's the real pain in the tuckus. Will try the transistor schmitt type next. I don't have any logic ICs with...

Pull the axle shaft out of a sterling rear, lop the last few inches off the tube before the hub, and there's your coaster wheel with brake.

burning sheared synthetic oil in IDI?

Mostly true, but even with RUG it's not as thin as diesel and (if memory serves) the autoignition temp for oil is higher than diesel. So on a cold, COLD engine it's fussy to light off

burning sheared synthetic oil in IDI?

Cutting it with RUG is just to reduce the viscosity and help contaminants drop out, and is more critical when you run 100% straight oil. Doing a 20/80 diesel/oil blend in your tank ought to be just fine without RUG. If you have an electric pump, it may not like the oil/gas mix. You'll...

Differences between cab & chassis vs pickup

Most cab & chassis frames are actually "flat" all the way back, while the other trucks have an arch over the rear axle. At least, that's applicable to the early 90's models per the Ford body builders guide

The Gear Hunter - E40D Shifting Problem

It's common for the stock sensor to fail, and reading zero at idle is a definite sign. The end cap with the wire leads is poorly sealed. I have rescued a couple with an alcohol bath to drive our moisture and then gobbed the end cap with liquid e-tape. it's not guaranteed, but worth a shot

    Battery Drain Woes

Will check headlight switch and radio, thanks! Pretty sure I saw a 20mA drop when I pulled the radio fuse, which powered KAM. The BAP sensor feeds the TECA altitude info. The 700mA draw from it leads me to believe that it's faulty. It looks like it's just constant-on, with it's 3 wires...

    Battery Drain Woes

OK... my 91 has had a drain issue since PO had it. Cut out electronic brake controller and goofy fog lights, no other hacked wiring found. 3G alt upgrade done by me, disconnected for now. Hood and dome lights are removed. Plugged a meter inline and I had 1.7 amp draw. The barometric...

burning sheared synthetic oil in IDI?

Anecdotally, a lot of folks had issues with synthetic oil in high proportions. I'd still want to filter that oil... what sort of metal contaminants did it pick up? How was it drained, collected, and stored? There's a lot of opportunities for dirt, metal, and water to find it's way into your...
