    1994 E350 trailer brake connector

Following up in case anyone searches. The blue trailer wire went all the way to the large connector on the firewall and stopped there. There wasn’t a matching pin on the interior plug. Looks like it didn’t have a trailer towing package even though all the wires were lead under the van for a 7...

    1994 E350 trailer brake connector

It should be a rectangular 6 pin. Only four are used. The plug I pictured inside has continuity with the plug by the power distribution box. Orange is 12v switched, yellow is 12v constant, blue and grey-red just seem to just pass through. I found this description of the trailer towing wiring...

    1994 E350 trailer brake connector

I can’t find the connector to install the trailer brake controller on my van. From what I can tell it had the trailer package installed at the factory. The blue wire from the 7 pin goes forward along the frame rail with all the other wires (trough factory connectors). All I can find under the...

    Deals Thread

We need a deals thread, figured this would be a good place to start. Rock Auto has a bunch of wholesaler closeouts on parts. I just got gaskets for the whole engine for around $60. The water outlet and inlet gaskets were 13 cents each...

    Cracked cylinder. Awesome

I have the other engine already but it has low compression. Need to do a leak down test on it. The heads that came off the engine with the cracked cylinder are good so I'm hoping I can put them on the engine with bad compression. Trying to avoid a full rebuild.

    Cracked cylinder. Awesome

I took this engine out of my van to swap in another. The replacement has bad compression so I started checking out the original to see if the coolant problem could be fixed. Looks like that's not going to happen. Hopefully I can put the heads off this engine onto the other to fix the compression...

    Thermostat housing check ball

What's with this 'again' business? This is the first time you've posted in this thread. Got any pictures of what you're talking about or a link to another thread?

    Thermostat housing check ball

This is what I came up with. Trimmed down lock washer till it fit snugly.

    Thermostat housing check ball

That's kinda what I was thinking. I have some small brass freeze plugs that might fit too. I figured it would 'work' to leave it out but they took the time to put it in at the factory so it must contribute something.

    preventative oil cooler seal replacement?

It would be cheap insurance to do it while you have the fluids drained. I think the orings and a gasket set are around $15.

    Thermostat housing check ball

I'm prepping a replacement engine to go into my van and figured a new thermostat would be a good idea. The retainer holding the check ball in disintegrated while cleaning it up. Any ideas for a replacement retainer? I was thinking an oring but I'm worried about it getting sucked into the...

Rebuild or Swap 7.3 with high mileage?

That's something I need to do too. This site has been great.

Rebuild or Swap 7.3 with high mileage?

That's about what I was thinking. What would a fair price on a used motor be? I know there are lots of variables. The last two I saw on CL were $1200 and $1500 but I can't remember the mileages.

Rebuild or Swap 7.3 with high mileage?

Hey guys and gals, I'm at another crossroads and would like some advice on which way to go. My E350 has been a work in progress for a while. My plan is to start using it for work once everything is reliable. I put in a craigslist transmission last month while I rebuild the original. Right...

OK. How Crazy of an Idea is This...

This. I keep watching craigslist for a used one. Lots of boats around these parts use them. Using a hydronic system would heat the engine and the cabin. You already have a tank of diesel sitting under the truck, might as well use it.

MIGHT GET ALUMINUM RADIATOR: FLUSH BEFORE, OR FLUSH LATER?

Sounds like you're on the right path. I'm pretty stoked it's working good too. Do you really need the back heat exchanger since you'll be carrying boards back there? I've been thinking about getting a webasto heater for my van. They don't use much diesel and would be great for camping. On...

MIGHT GET ALUMINUM RADIATOR: FLUSH BEFORE, OR FLUSH LATER?

Well I guess all it took to fix my van was to get on here and complain about it. After that I drove over to my shop where the van is stored, topped off the coolant (took a gallon and a half) and went for a drive. It stayed between the N and O in 'Normal' the whole time. Went out on the highway...

MIGHT GET ALUMINUM RADIATOR: FLUSH BEFORE, OR FLUSH LATER?

I put a two row aluminum radiator from Performance Radiator in my '94 with the 7.3 and it's having an overheating problem. I had thought that the transmission slipping and creating heat was the problem but after I swapped that out last week it is still overheating. Most of the time the needle...

1998 E4OD on the outside... ...wait a minute!

Thanks for the comments George, and to you, trackspeeder, and others for this awesome thread. I really didn't want to clutter it up with comments but was getting antsy for the build list. I've looked at just about every rebuild kit google and ebay has to offer and the prices vary considerably...

    Tank Replacement

What I know about plastic tanks is really just hearsay so take it with a grain of salt. I have heard that they had problems with condensation. I have no idea how it works, maybe google it to see if it's a real concern or not. I think it had to do with thermal expansion. I cleaned my front...

1998 E4OD on the outside... ...wait a minute!

Awesome write up, just read the whole thing. This for sure needs to get stickied. I bought another E4OD off craigslist to throw in my '94 E350 while I rebuild the original. I'm looking at rebuild kits and wonder what the difference between the early 90s and late 90s kits are? If I'm doing...
