I personally never meant to clutter. I like the aluminum caps have said so from the start of this thread. I would love to have a set. Other posters ( who I have to assume have had more experience than me with the leak issues) mentioned that they didn't think the caps where the entire problem. I...
BTW I'm not saying there is no older truck that is good or there is no older truck worth 8800. If you where looking at a 4x4 cclb 7.3 idi with all the options in that condition then 10,000 would be a fair price imho. But an eclb 2x4? The only thing its got is a low milage diesel which is hard to...
8800 for a 2WD!! No way! I dont care if it has 7500 miles. Kbb puts it at the 6000-6500 mark. I know that can be relative but unless this is your dream truck with all of the options exactly how you want it there is no way its worth the money being asked. And as far as the newer truck not being...
Ok thats what i thought. Didn't know for sure though. Not to derail here but does anyone know the difference in rear axle with from a dually to a single wheel? And front?
That may be close to the same size then. If we can get numbers we can figure out if it is two or three speeds and what the ratios are. Also since mine is out of the truck i can shift it and spin it. It is obvious what gear you are in by the different speeds of the input and output shafts.
It is possible that it only has a low gear and straight through. Mine was in an f600 so its a bit bigger than the little 1 ton trannys. the ones like mine with the overdrive where not as common.
I dont remember You could probably look it up with the serial number though if you found a good shop. It was set up to split gears in the truck it was in though. it's syncroed from what they told me.
Sure thing Jake. There is a shop here in Springfield that claims they can get any part for that trans as well so I dont think that would be a problem. There used to be a guy around here that ran a hot shot in the 70s and 80s it was a 1970 Chev 1 ton streched out with a custom sleeper. He ran a...
GOOD GOD! I'm Wanting to gear Mine up because I'm running 2400ish at 70 MPH. I feel like I'm torturing it at that speed. What does that do for your fuel economy?
So the questions we all want answered are:
1)What is the cost to produce a set of aluminum oring caps? (Lets just assume there are eight caps with two barbs each.)
2)Will they improve reliability enough to offset that cost? (And yes we will all acknowledge that we will pay a certain amount...
The reasoning behind the manifold is. (If it is in fact the caps moving all over the place that is causing the leaks) a 1 piece manifold will mitigate that movement in which case they SHOULD take MUCH longer to go bad. IE By the time one goes bad just replace them all. and you also never have...
If you look at the factory caps It doesn't matter where the return line contacts the injector cup. There is a sealing surface at each Oring and a small channel between them for fuel to get to the hose fittings. So that really isn't the critical measurement. Your biggest tolerance problem would...
