Whitmore :hailyou sneaky old fart I wish I'd thought of that first.
Were you able to use the original cables or not, it doesn't look like it if not did you just have a new set made up ??
Greg you don't need to heat WMO for an IDI for about 4 years I ran up to 90% WMO/Dino in mine cut it back to 50/50 in the winter 2 micron filter on a 1 hour cycle.
I just have to ask why ??
It seems like you are trying to solve a problem that should not exist, I've been running WMO in rates as high as 90% with no problems thus far ( 40k miles to date ) no mods to the truck all I do is filter well in one of my 55 gal barrels for about an hour using a 2...
One of the things I liked about them is the sending units come with the package most others you have to pay extra plus who are they kidding you have to use the matching sender with the gauge so its not like there is a choice so why don't the sell 'em that way in the first place ???:dunno
For what you've already done you are in the danger zone without gauges, a stocker can pull 1200* so with your tweaks you could be hitting 1400* at times. ;Really
I run upto 90% WMO in the warm weather & 50% the rest of the time, this is a bit higher than my old IDI would start on but once she started she'd run on 100% WMO. I ran those blends for over 40,000 miles with very few fuel related problems.
No you will still have soot & since the IDI's have such a poor starting system I have always pulled my GP's at every oil change & cleaned the coke off them.
Towcat while I wouldn't want to disagree mine didn't "sweat" after over 4 years so maybe it only happens to certian batches of hose or if the WMO has a real high level of acid, most of my oil has come from friend semi's or the toyota forklift mech which is nice clean not even black oil.
I won't claim to have "hauled" this load but I did once only hooked a chain to 7 loaded rail cars & pulled them about 250' figured out the weight at 1.3 million pounds, was nice that steel wheels roll easy on a level track.
I once goofed & blended 90/10 wmo/dino & found out that at 40* or less she will "run" but wouldn't start on it, even at 50/50 the fuel is still very black & I always filtered down to 2 microns.
