Something you don’t want to see in your oil cooler.

Any update to this? How is the cooler holding up after the backflush? I did some pretty extensive backflushes this summer that didn't last, so I ended up doing a cooler replacement this fall.

So what did you do with your truck today?

I got my old rig running today for the first time in months. I bought a 6.0 back in May, the IDI doesn't get much attention anymore. Getting her ready to sell. Anyway, truck was gelled up today. It was 10 degrees here today, (8 degrees right now) and the truck had the same fuel in the tanks...

Plenty of options. Hose in hose heater from the tank up front. Only viable if you use this tank for wmo only and not diesel fuel. Heated fuel filter head. heated fuel filter bowl flat plate heat exchanger

Safe operating RPMs? 7.3L IDI N/A

I just punched it into my excel sheet speed calculator. That's 3200 rpm assuming stock tire height and a zf5 with 4.10 rear. I'm surprised. I had mine up to 95 once and don't think I'd want to go any faster than that. Plus she was chiefin pretty good. Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

    Rusty but Trusty

Any tips on ripping off the trim? Did you do the whole truck or just the door? And how did it look Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

    Rusty but Trusty

So I can get phosphoric acid to stop the rust in those bad areas, but I still need to get that trim stuck back down again. I thought about just some sheetmetal screws, But I feel like that creates more problems than it fixes.

    Rusty but Trusty

My truck has been great to me the last 4 years I've owned it, but lately the rust has been getting worse and worse. The salt here hasn't been too friendly. Below are some photos showing some of this rust. Most of it is just comsmetic, no big deal, but one bit of rust specifically has become a...

    DIY: Digital Pyrometer Gauge

What pressure senders are you using? And how affordable are they? I'd like to add one to my wvo controller and have it automatically switch back to diesel if the wvo pressure falls off, but I haven't been done any research yet on pressure senders. Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

Running Warm Under Load; Using OEM gauge location vs Overtemp sender for gauge?

My fan clutch starts to lock up around 200 or 205. I can feel it do so driving around town. When it does, my Temps immediately start dropping and get to around 190 when the fan shuts off. As for running on the highway empty, my truck runs around 210. I definitely think a fan clutch repair...

    DIY: Digital Pyrometer Gauge

I just now realized it's an OLED, so no color changing, but the blinking and simple bar graph would still be possible. And it's nice and small so the install could be really clean. Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

    DIY: Digital Pyrometer Gauge

Thats the same thermocouple amplifier that I use in my wvo controller that I've posted on here. Nice work. I know a lot of people mentioned to me that a visual is sometimes useful as well. Maybe instead of reporting voltage, you could have a bar graph from left to right that visually depicts...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I took my truck and camper to the Upper Peninsula this weekend, a 1000 mile round trip from my neck of the woods. The truck handled it well, and I managed about 15 mpg on wvo over the course of the trip. Pretty dang good. The only downside to the whole ordeal was getting stuck in some wet...

Yep, I think what I'm leaning towards so far is a multi wire connector, so the only thing in the display box is the screen itself and the buzzer, that way everything else can be relocated and the display box size would be cut in half. Sent from my LG-VS985 using Tapatalk

I do intend to move the "guts" of the system, like the mosfets, voltage dividers, thermocouple amplifiers, etc. To a separate enclosure that can be mounted under the dash. The difficult part about that is it requires either several wires to run between the screen and the control box, or serial...

Oh yeah, it does shut down with the truck. I have it on a timer so it stays on for about 30 seconds after I shut off the truck. This way, I can still see my sensors after I power off, and I can hear my pump running if I forgot to purge. After about 30 seconds of the truck being off, the...

That's exactly why I started my project. I wanted more customization, and the arduino is an empty slate. I can make it do anything I so choose... Sounds like I should put some thought into the electric heater control too. I could make it thermostatic so it starts heating at a temp lower than...

Yeah I've heard that before with regards to my EGT and it being digital and not a dial. I could add an option to view sensor data as either digital or as dials. What else do you think about your copilot? My dad has one in his 300D as well. He likes it just fine, but I wanted to improve upon it...

Calling all WVO users, your feedback is appreciated.

Max duration of purge is as high as you want to set it, within the limits of the timer variable on the controller (something way longer than you'd ever need to go.) For my system, I use a 30 second purge as I've determined 30 seconds is the time needed at able to flush all the wvo out of my...

I like the idea of thing into the FSS, that would be pretty simple to do. Gps might be sorta iffy since the routes I take on oil are generally different every time. I'm trying to keep the controller as "universal" as possible, so I try not to design too much around the IDI in particular. I...

Hey everyone, As some of you may remember from a few of my previous posts, I've been working on WVO fuel controller for the past year using a touch screen and an arduino. I'm still in the prototyping stage, but am getting ready to move forward and develop a few test units. For those of you...

Truck died and will not restart

Not trying to be rude here, but he already answered all of these questions... He's got fuel coming out of the hard line right before the injection pump, so that eliminates the first three comments. He mentioned that he can hear the FSS clicking on the IP, so that sort of covers number 4. As...
