Fuel filter options?
X2 with what ToughOldFord said. The IH DT444 clear bowl wont even fit on our trucks with the stock filter. I cant remember the part number off the top of my head but the IH DT444 filter is taller and i think racor may even have a taller one. Thats IF your going with a different filter head...- rattleonby

Suspension (chassis?) popping noises........ball joints?
My truck makes a popping noise on sharp off camber turns. All of my joints have no play. I know ive heard of the transmission crossmember and the front crossmember by the engine causing this noise. Catastrophic E4OD bellhousing failure(Full fracture)
Man thats toasted. I woulda thought the adapter plate would crack first. I've seen 2 of those crack where the starter mounts. The one was in my buddies truck and the starter almost fell out when he went to crank it. Wish i took pics of that!- rattleonby

For 500$ its worth it. Wouldnt go higher for a used idi with over 100k unless its has very low knooown mileage.- rattleonby

Factory Alcoa Lug Nuts
The answer is yes to the 7/8" lugnuts your seeing on the alcoas on obs trucks. Its really all about the mounting surface. Time for fresh bearings
Look like normal wear with lots of miles to me. The thrust bearing always takes the most abuse and looks the scariest (middle). Machine shop will determine if the crank is in good shape. Probably just a journal polish. Keep them ol' sticky clatterboxes on the road! :)- rattleonby

OK, so you have a flashing od light so obviously its a trans issue. What you need to do is get online or if someone has it here is the flashcode list. You count the slow flashes versus fast flashes and see what it coincides with on the sheet. For example a code 25 would be 2 slow flashes and 5...- rattleonby

Very nice. Looks only a lil bit tighter fit than our idi's in there. Littl bit heavier too i imagine. I'd be interested in the adapter too being that the zf6 is a one piece case if im not mistaken?? why are these trucks so rare?
Yea up here in the salt belt has made alot of these trucks extinct. My truck is relatively rare considering its a 4 door dually idi late obs. All the young punks think my trucks a powerstroke and that im BS'ing them.- rattleonby
