    Excessive oil consumption

I run 15w40 Delo or Northland conventional oil, both are CK-4 rated oils. As far as conditions, oil consumption increases with engine speed. Interstate driving vs highway is noticeably different for consumption. Never heard of this AutoRX stuff. Where do you guys get it?

    Excessive oil consumption

Sooo... Been burning a LOT of oil in my '92 7.3 IDI (non-turbo). I'm going through a gallon of oil every 250-300 miles, sometimes more. But it's not really smoking blue at all, and it isn't leaking more than a drop or two. Truck starts and runs decent. I've got to figure this out because it's my...

    EC-1 coolant in IDI?

Part of the reason I'm hoping to run EC-1 is it's hard to find green coolant that's SCA-compatible (not all green coolants are made the same!). I've seen a few that explicitly say they are NOT compatible with SCA additives. Not sure what makes them incompatible with SCAs but it would just be...

    EC-1 coolant in IDI?

I've seen various scattered threads on this subject but not a whole lot of helpful information. I can readily get Cat EC-1 coolant and I would prefer to use it if I could, as it's premixed and has cavitation protection, plus it's only like $13/gallon for 50/50 premix. My copper radiator is...

    E4OD torque converter lockup issues

Let's hope it's not a shit kit sorry, couldn't pass that opportunity up. On another note, drove the truck 200 miles today, and noticed a random quick unlock and locked back up again. Im suspecting one of two things. Each time I turn on the turn signal it messes with lockup. Either my MFS is bad...

    E4OD torque converter lockup issues

Figured out the lockup issue. I was aware of LEDs causing issues. I didn't think this truck had LED lights on the rear as they looked like incandescent housings and lenses (you know how you can usually see the LEDs clearly). Well I figured I should check and see if a filament collapsed in a...

    E4OD torque converter lockup issues

Well I installed a new FIPL and adjusted it to read 1.2v KOEO at idle. Shifts are still on time but lockup still only occurs with throttle nearly to or at the floor. As soon as I let off the throttle to less than 80% or so it unlocks immediately. Any ideas? Should I change the voltage and play...

    E4OD torque converter lockup issues

Yes the Rear ABS light is illuminated. Tach works and is never erratic. What recall are you referring to? I was not aware of one for the cruise control.

    E4OD torque converter lockup issues

The brake lights work and the switch appears to release properly. I should also mention that the cruise control doesn't work either, I don't know if that's related or not.

    E4OD torque converter lockup issues

Working on my new to me 1992 F350 with a IDI and an E4OD, and having some issues with t/c lockup. Transmission has clean fluid at the correct level. Shifts fine and for the most part shifts are on time, although there is an occasional erratic downshift when lightly applying throttle and then it...

    Weird glowplug issues...

I don't seem to have that 10 or 12 wire plug. The glowplug feed comes directly off of the starter relay, and that connection and wiring seems to be in good shape. All of the GPs are at 0.4-0.5 ohms so no open circuit, and yes there is 12v at each plug. I'm going to pull one of the plugs next...

    Weird glowplug issues...

Yes I checked, every glowplug has 12v with the relay on.

    Weird glowplug issues...

So I should start by saying I just got this truck recently, and I don't know much about it other than the original owner took good care of it (maintenance records) but the person who owned it before me was a complete idiot. That being said... I am having the most frustrating issue with the...

    Box on C&C

Appreciate all the info! I've been looking for a box but so far nothing decent as far as rust goes. I may end up keeping the flatbed for now, although it needs to be re-worked if I do as it's designed for a SRW (previous owner ran without the duals, no clue why).

    Box on C&C

So I just picked up a 1992 F350 today. So happy to have an IDI again. The truck is a flatbed, and I believe it is a cab and chassis, especially after seeing a incomplete vehicle tag of sorts in the original paperwork that came with the truck. My question is, I would like to put a proper truck...

    E4OD Rebuild

I'd think it would still have reverse regardless and park but might have been complicating things. It would go forward regardless of what the gear selector was in...

    E4OD Rebuild

So I went to try to pull codes from the controller and it won't run any tests or report any codes, not even so much as a code 11. So no clue on codes. 4R100 bypass, if I read correctly, doesn't that require some drilling on the case?

    E4OD Rebuild

Thanks for the info! I'll post back here once I get into disassembly and see whats in there. I know that this transmission has been rebuilt once already - but it was rebuilt by one of the local shops here that really doesn't do that good of a job - it doesn't have that many miles on it since the...

    E4OD Rebuild

SO after several years I finally joined the IDI crowd :D Bought myself a 1990 F250 with the 7.3 diesel and an E4OD (yep it's 4wd). Engine only has 45k on it as it was replaced. I bought it knowing the transmission was bad, at the time it had no reverse so I tried to limp it home and lets just...

    Need advice

Got in here a little late but most problems with Dodge auto's are due to a maladjusted TV cable. BTW - I would highly recommend you install a shift kit. It will help extend the life of the transmission as these Dodge trannies aren't worth anything in stock form.

    Cali Emissions? It gets worse...

In all seriousness, if truck owners would just step up and say NO, it would end mighty quick. I would think it safe to say that MOST truck owners do NOT like the EPA and CaliFornicator crap that they are pulling it off. Edit: Hell, if I get people to back me I'll spearhed it.

    Cali Emissions? It gets worse...

You know, it's 100% dumb to try to get old trucks off the road. Seriously... Even if it's just the ones used for commercial purposes. They ain't got no right to be barging in on stuff like that.

    Cali Emissions? It gets worse...

And who wants to bother removing the DPF filter and washing it out? I mean, IF we HAD to do it, it's not TERRIBLE, but really, if you use your truck an awful lot, it creates additional downtime. Oh, and maybe you could post some links/pics... Oh, and ever hear of those toxic ash ponds? Yeah...

    E4OD Transmission Issue

You will have to use a E4OD lockup converter. A C6 converter won't work AT ALL.
