My f250 has the high elevation 158 hp engine.i realize that these trucks are slow but mines pathetic. I can't run the 55 mph speed limit when pulling a small flatbed trailer.
Is the only difference between the HP ratings the pump output or is there more to it?
Went to the feed store and the gas station. On the way home my tilt steering came loose and practically fell into my lap.
I pulled the steering wheel off and can't see the problem. I you tubed it and only found videos on how to adjust the steering box. Nothing with my problem.
I got home and...
Just wanted to share this. It's for a 15L caterpillar diesel. Napa gold made by wix in USA. Only about 3/4 of a thread to hold it onto the engine.
Napa brought out a replacement for it and it had the correct threads. Imagine if I had put that on without noticing! Thing would have blown off on...
The one on my 87 F250 has stuck and burned up the rear brakes today. I can loosen the line at the valve and the brakes release.
Where can I get a new one? Everything shows 77-86... Not 87.
Another thread got to talking about @what rpm a pump begins to de-fuel. I got a bad video of mine this morning. It will do this in every gear and any load.
Normal or not?
Wife bought a toyhauler tonight. Guy said it was pretty heavy.
I thought it would be no problem for the IDI. I was wrong!
Truck was stable but geez it takes a long time to get up to speed. Any hill had me down to 35 mph.
Taking off from a red light on a hill required 4lo then a shift back to...
This is #4. This one split a tube. Not caused by anything other than a tube that was made too thin and eventully split.
Thinking of giving up on the Champion ones. Might as well recore my old one with more tubes and fins.
My cost on a core is $675 though. GULP!
Now my system seems to work but the engine will not start. The wait to start light stays on the usual 8-10 seconds.
It just cranks and cranks. Once it does start after 10 or so seconds it does not rev up like it does when I had air intrusion
Can the GP relay light the light on the dash...
Truck has always started with 1 cycle. Lately it has needed 2. I turn the key on,wait 8-10 seconds for the light to go out but it does not start. I turn he key off and glow it again and it fires up.
Thoughts?
Oil and filter threads get people rilled up! First. Yes you can buy a motorcraft filter. But if you think that filter is what the truck came with your wrong.
Those filters are made by the lowest bidder. Lately that has been Purolater. Purolater has had many problems with the media tearing in...
Back in 1996 I worked for U-Haul. I was put into the repair area. The trucks went through the maintenance area then to the repair area for major repairs. Every 30K they got new belts and who knows what else. They cut the old V belts off. They then used a tool to roll the new belts onto the...
I have sprung a leak. I wanted to check the bolts but can't easily access the ones on the back. So since I hate working on cars I don't want to do this 2x. I have used Fel pro and Napa gaskets in the past on other cars with mixed results.
Driving to work I had yet another disaster. My water pump. Stupid thing only lasted 32 years! What a piece of junk! :) Anyway the new pump came with 2 new bolts. I seem to remember something about the original bolts hitting a timing gear. No instructions in the box so where do the new bolts go?
Sunday we were in the mountains and the truck started running bad. Acted like I was running out of fuel. I switched tanks and it cleared up. We stopped for lunch and the truck started and died. I thought maybe it still had air in it somewhere. Drove home fine. Went to leave for work this morning...
My ignition actuator broke. I youtoobed a couple of videos. Looked easy enough. Im 3 hrs into my column and am not making much headway. Plus some parts fell out and I have no clue where they go. Anyone have a pic of where things go? If not what years trucks can i get a column out of at picapart...
Got the 1/2 second flash instead if a steady on gp light. Tested them with a test light using the positive battery terminal one at a time and they all lit up the test light. I have in the past eliminated the electrical connection on the fender that burns up. Bad controller?
I'm sure that I'm due for rear shoes. The parts stores have 2 sizes. One being 3 inches wide and another only 2.5 inches wide. Any idea what an 87 F250 would have? Or do I have to pull a wheel to find out?
I scrapped a junk car today. Left early to go to work with the car on my trailer. Truck seemed pretty sluggish! Real Dawg on any hill. Seemed ok once on flat ground though. Down hills really pushed me!
My timing is ok and I have turned the fuel up as much as I dare with no turbo.
Got to the...
I have to install some sort of fuel pressure solonoid looking deal on a 1997 power stroke. I have no idea what its called or what it does.
It has like a 3/4 nut, then the electrical part slides off then there is a 1-1/8 nut on the body of the thing.
I can see it way down on the fuel filter...
Many years ago I mounted a water trap fuel filter on my truck. It's mounted to the fan shroud. Wix #33123 is the filter number.
I would like to move it to a more accessible place under the hood but I dont see a place with enough room for it. It needs to be mounted with the drain down.
Ideas? Pics?
