    E4OD blues

I had similar issues, especially the recurring VSS code, turned out to be the PSOM as well, I was able to find a shop that rebuilds instrument clusters and they got it right for not much money. I believe they found the leaking capacitor issue on mine when they got into it.

DTI Tech Time on the way!

Great stuff guys, thanks so much! Tracking says it will arrive tomorrow. Might be able to jump on it Sunday. I think I'll give it a try with the damper probe first and then get the light if I'm not successful. I'm assuming it's the one on this page: https://tinytach.com/timing-equipment , 5th...

DTI Tech Time on the way!

Should be here next week. This is the eBay one that I think a few other members have as well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/291925919893 Finally taking the advice of several on here who have suggested I get my own since I can't find any shops near me that have one. Anybody have any tips or trick to...

yet another E4od issue...trans shop stumped!

I'll have to ask my trans shop about measuring the rail pressure, thanks for the suggestion! I feel your pain with the challenges on the electronic side of things with these transmissions. Definitely had me searching manual trans swap on this forum a few times!

Where to go for injectors and injection pumps.

    Thanks very much for this!

yet another E4od issue...trans shop stumped!

Yes I can feel TC lockup. I think it occurs between 2 and 3. Unfortunately sometimes the TC lockup will go in and out at some around-town speeds so usually i drive with it off until I hit the highway. When it's just warmed up, driving normally, it shifts around 2-2.5k. When things are hot i...

    1994 f250 turbo project

So I called a diesel injection specialty shop near me to ask about checking the timing on this truck. He wasn't much interested in the timing issue. After describing my situation he recommended a rebuild on the pump, which they do in-house. He said i was just compensating for the decreased "hot"...

yet another E4od issue...trans shop stumped!

I do not know the answer to either unfortunately. Back when the rebuilt engine was going back in, I had to make a call on the doing anything to the trans. The TC looked "newer" and the fluid looked good so I just put it back in since I was running low on funds. The FIPL was adjusted until it...

    Water pump going bad?

Changing the water pump isn't too bad. I did mine in an apartment parking lot on a previous IDI.

yet another E4od issue...trans shop stumped!

That's good to hear...certainly I want to do it right when the time comes so I will be saving up for sure. The only worry in my mind is the guys at my trans shop tell me don't wait until it completely fails, the rebuild will just cost more...Have to time it right I suppose.

Spare engine parts free for the taking

I still have these parts if anyone wants them.

    1994 f250 turbo project

As a follow up to this thread and just for the sake of sharing, this engine always had a "pulse", especially when hot. The shop that had installed the IP after the rebuilt engine went back in assured me that they got the marks lined up between the IP gear and the cam gear. After chasing my tail...

yet another E4od issue...trans shop stumped!

Guys, I've been a ghost for a while, between a mostly DIY addition to our home, an infant somehow becoming a 2yo in the blink of an eye, and that corona thing, time just got away from me. Trying to jump back in a follow up on some threads that i had been part of. While my trans is by far still...

Shop recommendation in Norfolk VA area

Anybody know of a shop familiar with IDIs in the Norfolk VA area? I had a guy at one shop that really impressed me and then he disappeared. I realize it's a kinda silly question for a DIY forum...But I need some things done and don't have time!! Thanks!

    Trucking along.

Good reading above. I'm two years into my 94 f250idit e4od...so far it has rebuilt motor (came with a locked up motor), currently working through e4od codes...and so much more to do. But that's the idea, find a truck that you like and chip away at the problems until one day you look at your...

    E4od acting up

I chased this for a while, and I hope writing about this doesn't jinx it, but currently it seems to be fixed. Definitely scan the codes if you have not done so. Mine was 29 which is insufficient VSS signal. I replaced the rear end sensor immediately with no effect. After a wild goose chase...

yet another E4od issue...trans shop stumped!

@gandalf, just read the tech article you mentioned above, thanks for pointing me there. Definitely makes me want to go ahead and replace the FIPL. But aside from that the inconsistent voltage that the shop was seeing was on Wire A in the tech article, signal in to the FIPL, resulting in a...

yet another E4od issue...trans shop stumped!

Hey guys, I finally got the rebuilt motor into the truck and drove it for the first time! A fresh motor and a turbo make for a noticeable difference over the '88 NA! Thanks for everyone who helped me as I was getting through that project! So....now I'm having trans issues, and haven't even...

Replace blown 94 id I turbo

The crank is also different between turbo and NA, it is balanced differently to account for the heavier rods and pistons in the turbo. I just went through this on my truck.

Yes I do, it has been installed but I can take it out (engine is not in truck yet), do you need it?

Factory turbo oil drain valley pan grommet

Anybody have a source for these? I'm in the position I think other's have found themselves in where the vp gromemet that came in the rebuild kit is too large for the oil drain. I've seen a few workarounds on here but would like to find the right part if possible... I found a ford part number and...
