I like the 5th wheel to me they seem a little more stable and spreads the weight around a little more. also you can always remove the 5th wheel hitch from the bed of the truck when not in use I tend to leave the hitch hooked to the trailer and just pull the pins from the plate when I park it for...
the struts are only short term till I can get the parts together to make it right.
I also got the bumper with no hardware and the truck has no brackets on it so I am having to make it up as I go. I had my 93 bumper I was going to install but my wife's cousin got his hands on it and my 5th wheel...
My only problem with cutting the fenders is if I ever need to replace them due to rust or anything then I need to cut new ones but if I just move the bumper a little it puts the bumper forward a little more and gives me a gap between the bumper and grill for more air flow to help keep her cool.
I am thinking about something like
to make a kind of support frame for the bumper. and it is 1 5/8" tall so that will give me 2 1/4" of forward spacing. I have worked with the struts before and I am not worried about the strength of them but at the same time in the event of a crash the strut...

I was putting my 7.3 in the truck to day and had my buddy raising and lowering the cherry picker.
told him to let it down easy so I could get it to clear the firewall and he lets it down too fast and ramed the oil pan into the crossmember that a stupid socket was sitting on now I have a oil pan...

What parts from a 6.9 will fit on my 7.3 I know the oil pan and a couple others.
why I am wanting to know is I can get a 6.9 for around 300 and was thinking about using it for parts so I wanted to know if it was worth it or not.
I know of 2 ferrys one from manitowoc to ludington starts memorial day I think and one from milwaukee to muskegon that I think is running now will have to check
