    Watch those block heater cords!

I read somewhere that its best not to use an Xcord above 50ft long for the block heater, it is 1500 watts and draws 15 amps or so. The longer the Xcord the more amps are being drawn, and if you have 150ft of cord on a 20amp GFCI, or breaker, you are going to trip said breaker, or GFCI. This...

    Need some ideas

Sounds more like air intrusion than anything else. Next time you go to start it up after its been sitting, have somone else crank while you press on the schraeder valve(or vise-versa). If fuel doesn't instantly come spewing out, I would look at servicing your fuel lines, o-rings, change fuel...

    Fuel Milage

just did the math on the most recent tank, some of which was towing a 5k lb trailer and most of the other was city traffic driving. I got right at 14 MPG, so nothing to write home about. I think the best I got was 19MPG on a straight 60MPH drive to Houston 4:10's dont help, and I prob need...

    Fuel Milage

You may have bad injectors or a worn out IP. Hpwever, you may want to try checking tire PSI, running Diesel Kleen or some other injector cleaner, Replace fuel filter etc. Also try to keep the highway RPM's at 2k or below for best MPG

clicking after the wts light goes out

If you have clicking while the WTS light is on. You prob have one or more bad glowplugs. First start of the day should glow for 15 sec or so, Bad GP's will decrease glow times to about 5seconds usually

What is this and is it suppose to be open at the top

I've noticed that on very cold starts, *sometimes* the "Brake" light comes on for a bit before the engine warms up. If I drive when the light is on, the brakes are very hard to press, it always seems to go away after a min Could this be a sign that the Vaccum pump(looks original) is going out...

Did I do a bad thing?

It depends on what was in your Rad to begin with, and what kind of additive you added. I believe, the standard Ford green coolant calls for "DCA4" additive. Best thing to do is test your coolant before adding ant SCA's as too much can also be a bad thing.

    hard start problem fix?

Feathering the throttle is fairly normal operation on cold starts AFAIK. and 50 bucks sounds good for them to check timing and harness, but I would clarify as to which method they are using for timing. Ask if they will use pulse or luminosity, and if they cant answer that I would re consider.

    hard start problem fix?

they go from injector cap to injector cap Its a really easy job, as others have mentioned it should take about 2 hours. #7&8 are the hardest as you are reaching under the turbo to get to them, other than that its easy. Remove the air box to get easy access, I always cover my turbo inlet with...

    hard start problem fix?

The Injection Pump supply lines are metal, those are the ones you have to gently push out of the way to pull the cap off. Be careful not to bend or break them. The return lines are the rubber ones going in between each injector. Yes I would pour some Coke on the terminals and wire brush the...

    hard start problem fix?

to replace return lines, obtain about 5' of 1/4"ID rubber fuel line. Should be less than $1 a linear foot. Remove the squeeze clamps on the old hose between the injector caps, and pull the length of hose off of the caps. I find that twisting them a bit with some needle-nose pliers goes a...

    hard start problem fix?

Well I live in Texas, so cold here is relative lol. In Canada, two glow cycles may be what you need, just seems like you might run the risk of overheating them that way. 1st start of the day at 30-40* or so usually glows for 15-20 seconds then cranks up with a small white puff. After the...

    Dual Tank blues....

Not sure if this will be any help but, I once had a problem of my selector valve returning fuel to the wrong tank. I drove around for 150 miles and my front tank only showed I had used 1/4 tank. Thought I was getting 40MPG lol, until I switched to the rear and it was almost empty :O It was...
