I've replaced the vacuum pump once on my '93, at around 300K miles. I replaced the brake booster for the first time a couple of month's ago. Used to be a daily driver but now I'm lucky to put 6K a year on it.
I purchased my kit years ago during their "restocking" period, saved a couple of hundred bucks. The install was pretty straightforward. Same year and configuration. The only issue I had was the downpipe hitting the seam on the firewall during acceleration. I had to bang our the seam a little...
Factory cables - post style lugs on the batteries instead of studs. Have had zero issues and the current
batteries are 5 years old and still turn over well.
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Deluxe Pack
When ULSD came out and was selling for $4.00+/gal (in AZ) I switched over to Bio (B100) which was selling for $2.89/gal. Truck ran well but lost some MPG. Idled smoother and pullled my 5th wheel with no issues. When bio got hard to buy - 1 fuel stop in town I went back to ULSD. Half a tank later...
About a half quart of ATF and a generous splash of Power Service per tank full, I fill up before it hits a quarter tank. Been doing that ever since ULSD was all you could buy.
First 1/2 tank full of ULSD took out the shaft seals on my pump. No issues since I started treating the fuel.
25. ARIZONA HIGHWAY 77
(north of Tucson, AZ)
About 35 miles north of Tucson there is a northbound descent on highway 77. It is posted "7% next 12 miles" but it is not a steady grade. The 7% sections alternate with sections of mild grade. Even so, heat can build up in brakes on such a grade so...
I removed the Bank's muffler on mine and actually cooled the egt's down by doing it. Straight piped isn't that loud unless I wrap it up to swap gears. The guys at emissons spend an extra minuted looking at my exhaust every year, but don't ever say anything. I have to be carefull on the dyno -...
I put a LUK in my truck 15 years ago, the t/o bearing failed 2 years ago. The failure was due to the plastic sleeve they use on these bearings. When I pulled the trans (150k miles on the clutch, lots of towing along the way) the pressure plate and the disc showed wear but both were reusable. I...
You should hear the controller clicking also if it is working. I have 3 bad plugs in mine right now and the controller still clicks, but the WTS light does not activate.
It should hold vacuum for a while, a visual inspection of the lines is about the only way you can check, Unlike a gasser where you can locate a leak with ether. But the good news is there are only a few systems working with vacuum - cruise control, a/c and brake booster. Check the vacuum check...
I ended up putting the mechanical sender in the overtemp location. I tried and could not get the factory temp sensor removed. Now I just subtract 10-15 degrees off of the reading. As for the oil temp gauge, I ran a tee at the Banks oil feed for the turbo. This also serves the purpose of letting...
I put a LUK in mine 10 years ago, only issue I ever had was the plastic sleeve in the t/o bearing came apart. 150K miles and had to replace the clutch. I have to say the disc still had plenty of material left, and I do tow a 8500K fifth wheel and a 4 horse stock trailer quite a bit.
I installed a Banks on my 93 IDI 5 spd manual a few years ago. I was pulling a hill up to Globe Az with my 5Th wheel, approx 7500# loaded 4-5 times a year. 7 miles 7-8% grade. I used to pull in 2nd gear bumping 3K rpm most of the way up before. After the turbo install the first trip up I was...
