    Probably, but at this point I really dont think I want to throw any money at this particular block. upon further examination, looks like all 4 holes have been sleeved, and the sleeve in #2 is standing about 2 razor blades proud. the others are flat. so I really dont know what I have here...

    Well shit. Looks like those compression gasses have been tunneling their way between #1 and #2 for a long long time. They finally made it. They must be so happy to see their hard work finally pay off. LOL I don't have a pic of it, but there is a matching "grand cannon" in the cylinder head.

    A long big hill and a zf is your friend. Go down the hill at various rpms of your choice with no skinny pedal. Have a listen. Turn around and go up the hill in way to high a gear. Have a listen. That'll rule an exhaust leak in or out.
