Newer IP thats been sitting, not sending fuel to Injectors...

Evening everyone! sorry about the delay, busy over my head, anyways, finally got around to checking out my IP. Pulled the cover off, metering valve isn't stuck or sticky, but fuel has a green tint to it? Could that have anything to do with it, or anything else could prevent the pump from...

Newer IP thats been sitting, not sending fuel to Injectors...

Nothing but pure diesel fuel has been run in it, I already tried the ATF and conditioner trick in the fuel filter, didn't do anything helpful. I been doing some reading up and it could be the fuel metering plate that's stuck? You have to remove the top cover of the pump and you can move by hand...

Newer IP thats been sitting, not sending fuel to Injectors...

Hi everyone! Been a while i've posted, been real busy and in the process of moving into a loghome. Anyways, moving my vehicles over to my new place, ran into a frustrating problem. My '85 E350 6.9 van, witch has always ran absolutely beautifully (other than burning oil, understandable with...

    Lifters? Miss fire, stomped!

Its fixed!! I fired it up this morning, runs like a dream! Super smooth and healthy. Can't believe it was that one new defective lifter, witch still held pressure when pressing down on it. On a side note, I found my problem to my random loss of prime every now and then....the special thick...

    Lifters? Miss fire, stomped!

I think I found the problem, when I removed the intake and valley pan, while observing everything inside, I turned over the motor, everything was operating normal down there, rocker arms all working properly.....but visually looking at the very last push rod, drivers side rear of motor, I...

    Lifters? Miss fire, stomped!

Anyway of telling them apart without taking them apart? And I have compression numbers! front of engine ----^---- 310 300 300 290 300 300 410 310 Are those good numbers? Seems a tad low to me, however, no blow by and no oil consumption at all in this...

    Lifters? Miss fire, stomped!

Their roller lifters, look identical to the ones I removed from it, Enginetech brand from Rockauto.

    Lifters? Miss fire, stomped!

I still have all the old lifters and none of them show any signs of visual wear of any kind, other than the 3 that didn't hold any pressure. Forgot to mention in my post, this is a Ford Reman engine, that now has 219,000km (136k miles) if that makes any difference.

    Lifters? Miss fire, stomped!

I was sort of thinking that...but i've never heard of an IDI eating cams. I know late 70's GM 305's had that problem.

    Lifters? Miss fire, stomped!

Hi everyone! I've got an interesting one for you today! on my '91 E250 Club Wagon 7.3 So late last year I had a miss fire and shake at idle, witch I determined it wasn't injector related, upon removing valve covers and pressing down on the rocker arms push rod side, I found I had 3 bad lifters...

anyone ever convert a van from automatic to manual trans?

Rare find, but nothing useful for you on it unless you want to put an IDI in a half ton van, witch is totally fine as well, but that's got the old RUG 4spd OD tranny, looks exactly the same as the old top loader mustang 4spd, but this one, 4th, is OD, and a very light duty transmission...

anyone ever convert a van from automatic to manual trans?

This would not be that bad of a project. You can get those aftermarket universal clutch pedal, make a mount for it beside the auto. brake pedal, bolt a master to the firewall, and run a hydraulic line to the slave. And the shifter would not be set back at all, it will come out thru the base end...

    7.3 Eating oil

I've tried 3 treatments of Auto RX on my oil burning 6.9 I put in my F150. Burnt about 2 quarts per 400-500 miles, while it was on Auto RX it eventually reduced consumption to as little as 2-3 quarts between oil change intervals witch is normal for an IDI. As soon as I stopped using Auto RX...

    7.3 Eating oil

UPDATE, So I took the drivers side valve cover off (real easy on non AC engine :D) and other than slight slugging found on the valve cover, nothing out of the normal, everything is tight, valve seals all look ok from what I can see through the springs. Unfortunately the problem is on the...

    7.3 Eating oil

Engine sounds normal and healthy, i'll pull the valve covers off this weekend, see what I find. Might do a compression check while i'm at at, see if I should put money in this engine or not.

    7.3 Eating oil

It's just sweating oil between head and exhaust manifold, probably from burning that much oil. Inside of exhaust is very oily as well. It's only seeping from passenger side rear cylinder.

    7.3 Eating oil

I've run nothing but diesel 10W30 in my IDIs in winter, never had one burn a drop of it. This by now should be mostly 15W40 as I've been topping it up with that, and no change at all. Starts and runs great, not hard to start cold or hot at all so I'll pull a valve cover off this weekend see...

    7.3 Eating oil

Evening everyone! So I just recently put a truck i've had over a year on the road now. '91 F350 cab/chassis, 12ft flat bed, 4x4 dually 5spd. Truck only has 205,000km (128k miles), and by the condition of the truck, and lack of rust anywhere, I have reason to believe that. However, it does not...

    Serious problem....?

No everything was super clean, nothing odd or sludge or debris of any kind anywhere. Very very clean engine. Been driving it for a week now, and same thing, still that one blown lifter rattling away, I can hear it over the engine noise. If I turn sharply left, lifer noise goes away, if I...

    Serious problem....?

I replaced all 16 lifters. They worked great yesterday. No thumping sounds, replaced the bad injector, fire up and thumping sounds again and slight miss fire out the exhaust. Did about 25 miles running errands tonight and no change.

    Serious problem....?

Well fixed the problem, it was a bad injector. Runs ok now......but blew another lifter or 2. Has a thumping sound in the intake again, and slight miss fire but runs alot better. Guess i shouldn't of revved the piss out of it when I got mad at it yesterday. I hope the new lifters start...

    Serious problem....?

So finally got it all put back together, and while it runs somewhat better.....still a big miss fire, and it changed cylinder now. Moved one up closer to the front, still on passenger side, 2nd one down from front. Use to be the 3rd one down. But problem also changed, use to run better with...

Looking for: '85 E350 6.9 Air induction "hose"

I used a piece of 4"? steel piping for a dryer exhaust, crush it where you need it crushed to fit to reach the air breather, and slides right on the air breather.

    Serious problem....?

Found the problem! I got 3 blown lifters, all on the passenger side head. #3 intake, #5 exhaust and #8 intake. #8 is totally shot, takes barely any effort to push down the push rod. #5, my problematic cylinder actually had the best lifter of the bad ones..... but that's the...
