The easiest way to tell if there are adapters on a Sterling rear is how much of the hub is sticking through the wheels. 1 or 2" means theres a spacer, 4"-ish means no spacer. Sterling rears have very long hub stickout, so anything less than lots means a spacer.

As far as the original title saying 4800 lbs, I'm pretty sure that was what Ford assigned to it when it was built and sold as a pick-up truck. I think they just used a "standard" weight for each line of truck, like the weight of the base model standard cab 2wd. My Dodge is registered in the...
I don't know if you could make them work in a pick-up or not, but that drivers side manifold is a much better design than the pick-up manifold. Much less restrictive.
Travis..
Just to expand on this ^, I think a set of headers would really benefit an N/A engine. The drivers side manifold is quite restrictive. Port work, cam, fresh fuel system, and headers would probably be about as good as an N/A can get.

I don't think you'll necessarily see if the WW is "worth it" on a dyno. I think where a WW will help is keeping the EGTs in check under long hard pulling. It would be cool to get an impression from someone who travels the same route regularly with roughly the same loads and knows their truck...
Looks like a 70 to me, the rail where the cover seals on the top and bottom is wider than a 60 so it looks more elongated top to bottom than a 60. The covers do interchange between a 60 and 70 though.

I also have an 80k mile original N/A 6.9 with fresh baby moose pump and matched injectors from Type4, and a 4x4 ZF5 with transfer case and some other misc items that I'd be willing to let go with the truck if someone from here wants to work a deal.
Travis..
Yes it does, I was posting from my phone and dealing with some really bad cell service when I originally posted :)
Thanks for the offer, probably not necessary though. It looks to be that it's just a tube with a. 45ish degree kink in it. I'm just trying to find it in my dads shop and needed...
Be careful putting later model seats in an older standard cab truck. If you are average height or taller, you may not have much room. The cabs on newer trucks are larger inside, so the seats can be larger and recline, etc. A highback bucket in a square standard cab is asking to be too close...
Agree, don't ruin your cab for lights. Mount it to your headache rack. We have lots of stuff at work with lights on the roof, and believe me, there ain't no going back. [:)]

As a guy with a 12 valve dodge and an IDI, I can say that I really like my 12 valve. So much so that I'm going to sell my crew cab instead of my Dodge since I have decided that I only need one truck. The best course for doing a swap is to do like was suggested and buy a whole truck as a donor...
As said, it depends on where you live. In the land of clean, rust-free sheet metal, an IDI isn't a bad choice. Even if all you want to do is repower with something more modern.

Depending on where you live, there is a good market for pre-emissions diesels. There are more and more people forgoing the newer electronics laden trucks that get bad fuel mileage and going back to simpler trucks that require much less money to keep going. There's also the guys looking to...
Just saw this posted on Pirate4x4. If its diesel compatible, it could cure the fuel pick-up blues.

^^Absolutely, the OD makes all the difference. My truck has a GV, and without it, you are returned to the era of that circled double nickel on the speedo.

That would depend on which ZF you get, the early ones are basically the same as the T-19 and the later ones have the lower first gear and wider gear splits.
When I was looking for ZF info, I found a blog about a guy who did the same thing you want with basically the same early 2wd truck. He...
I would run the system on a master toggle switch, but have a pressure switch for automated operation when you have it turned on. This way you can leave it off when running light, but let it do it's thing automatically when you arm it.

If your oil starts to smell like fuel and you notice a marked increase in oil usage, I would change it at a point before this normally occurs. The scientific approach is good, but a common sense approach will get you in the general vicinity. It would be interesting to see a report on the oil...
I have gauge cups like that Jegs link in my Dodge, only they're Isspro. I drilled holes in the top of the dash right next to the A pillar to mount them. My Dodge has a plastic dash cap that isn't padded though. Might be the same on the Bricks too?
Travis..
My 86 has pillar gauges, don't know who the pod is from because the P.O. installed it. From personal experience, the gauges on the pillar never seem to be angled correctly, and I'm pretty much right in the middle of average size as far as a person goes. I know there isn't much choice in where...
