    2014 Ram 1500 Diesel

I'm sure they'll claim some outlandish horsepower, payload & mileage numbers. That seems to be an industry-wide standard. I can't wait to hear the line of baloney(In Sam Elliott's voice).

Might be getting a throttle body 350 chevy...

Wouldn't hurt to look into some kind of cold air intake. Ever consider drilling the cam gear & advancing the cam timing a couple degrees?

Might be getting a throttle body 350 chevy...

If the stock air intake goes through the core support, I'd leave it. If it goes through the right fender, I'd change to ANYTHING else. As far as the roll-back, when you shut it down, I'd pull the cap & rotor, and make sure the distributor weighs are working correctly. As far as performance...

bought a 6.0 today. should i be worried?

You should be worried. When I was running wrecker, I towed 6.0's, ten to one, over ANY other diesel pickup. The service writers, at the local Ford dealer, would say, "Put it out back, with the rest of the junkers." Not trying to start an argument. Just stating the facts.

    2014 Ram 1500 Diesel

Been hearing all about Dodge's big innovation, putting a diesel into a half-ton pickup. Like it's something that's never been done before. Evidently, GM's 35 year old innovation is newsworthy, in the Chrysler camp.

Might be getting a throttle body 350 chevy...

If you are still interested.... Headers make a difference, but wrap them, or you will likely get a check engine light, when decelerating. The O2 sensor cools off too quickly & goes out of range. TB spacer makes about the same change as a carb spacer used to. ECM, or power chip is easy enough...

    307 sbc

I had a 307, in a 73 Nova. Wasn't a fireball, but got right down the road. Mileage was what you'd expect, from a V-8, with a kid on the throttle. Outran a mid 80s Monte, with a 283, one night. The 307 was a large journal engine, but was basically a 283 bore, with a 327 stroke. It was GM's 1st...

    curvaceous.......

GM had the retro market locked up. I was working at a Chevy dealer in 92, when the SSR was supposed to be in your driveway for $17000. 10 years later, it finally hit the street $3000 less than a Corvette. A flamed, black SSR would have looked so awesome, next to the PackRat Wrecker.

    Interference engine?

Yeah. That's what I'm up against. It's tr4uly amazing, that the dealership can't tell me. Seems like that sort of thing would be noted in the repair manual, for things to check under timing chain replacement. We aren't about to put $1000 into a 250k S10. If it was just a matter of a couple...

    Interference engine?

My fiance's Dad has my old 1995 S10. The other day, in town, it popped & died. The Chevy dealer says the timing chain broke, but can't tell me if it's an interference engine, or not. Thus far, the interporn has been mildly infuriating, at best. The truck has over 250k on it & isn't worth...

    The PackRat gets new legs...

Long overdue update, but not much to say.... Still haven't gotten the ton front end under it. No garage sucks, large. Did, however, find that early 3500HD, 1st gen Superduty & P series motorhomes run 19.5" wheels, with 10 on 7.25" bolt circle. The old PackRat Wrecker now has radials on both...

    PACCAR PX8

Am I the only one that thinks it sucks? Lag from hell. Really poor throttle response. 330hp, that feels like a buck-25. The turbo barks back through the air cleaner.(That 's what the dealer tells me) Sounds like it's backfiring. A Medium Duty D-Max would run off & leave me.

Stupid question, 4L80 Behind a carbureted 454, is it feasable

Do some shopping in the towing, or street rodding world. You should be able to find a stand-alone transmission controller.

    89 Suburban swap ??

No O/D, & 4.11 gears? 55mph will probably be close to governed out. Also, if there is a difference(I can't say, for certain), you might look into picking up a set of torsion bars from a 1-ton. There is a significant difference in weight, from a mouse motor to a Cummins.

    NEED HELP ASAP CAR DIED

First thing I'd do, is pull the hot wire off the cap, and be sure you have battery voltage, with the key on. If not, you may have a burnt fusible link, or ignition fuse. If you do, then it may be the module, ignition coil, or pickup coil. The first 2 are easy to replace. The pickup coil...

My 5'er is a 1976 Prowler 30' . It weighs in right at 8k. Yours is longer and taller than mine. I wouldn't be surprised if your leanin on 10k.

    Car Wash Barrels for WMO

If they are white, keep them out of the sun, or they will degrade, crystalize & crack. Black barrels are more UV resistant.

    IH 4700 DT466E

My boss is a day or 2 from done, on rebuilding the DT466E in our 04 4300. He bought the rebuild manual From IH, so the torque specs were no problem. He used a regular ratcheting ring compressor. All the slugs went in pretty smoothly, with engine oil, except #1. The oil ring gave up on it...

Whats a good degreaser for a chassis?

Yeah, what he said. When I was @ K-W, the racers would bring their bare frames out, for steam cleaning, before they started building them. As it turns out, most were in perfect condition, on the left front horn, from the p/s fluid, engine oil, etc. buildup. Pretty funny lookin', nice even...

Its either gonna sell or im crushin it

I know what you mean. When I drove The Crossbreed to it's new home, I told the guy he was lucky to have put a deposit on it. Otherwise, I would have driven it right back home.

Not an IDI but it is an International...

A guy up by Oz had one of those, with a big Cat on it's back, to pull/run a tub grinder. With the 4x4 & weight of the Cat, he could go place & grind, that most grinders would need a crawler to get in & out of.

    CAT ELC?

Actually Cat ELC is still good, up to 10% water, but I wouldn't recommend it. 1+ on the complete flush. By complete flush, I mean everything, including the green goo the is stuck to the inside of the block, too. Any trace of conventional coolant will turn ELC into a muddy brown mess, that...

    Brownies on Ebay

Wow! I'd have sold mine years ago, had I known they were worth so much. I picked it up, to put behind the 5-speed in my 66 C-60. That project seems to have gone WAAAAAAAY down the list.

How many miles do they live?

The one I just sold had 500k, before I got it. I drove it like a rented mule. VE pump maxed out. No I/C, so had to watch the pyro when loaded. Won 3 of 4 truck pulls, and the 1 I lost was my fault, not because the truck got beat. Not many 1-ton 4x4's I know of, that will pull 16+mpg, in town.

    Best way to clean ..

When I have a hub that is greased up, from a bad seal, I use the power washer, with the heat turned up near steam. When I was at K-W, we had a hot water wash tank. The great thing about the soap, is that usually, you can see any cracks, when the soap dries.
