    here is another 1 this man is an expert. this is a really good teardown video. I might suggest before you teardown your pump, find a junk 1 to examine carefully you can learn a lot from that. The 6.2 diesel has a similar pump.

    Watch this set of videos. Good information, Pay attention to metering valve not moving and the fuel delivery valve, both of these are prone to being stuck, from sitting.

    do you have the fuse location diagram? it may be labeles as ecm relay or the teca relay

    To date I have repaired/helped repair 3 trucks with this relay bad. It can cause some really weird problems.

    Have you tried changing the ECM relay? It supplies all the power to the tranny.

    Fredrickson, Trackspeeder knows much more about E40Ds than I do ,but a couple of thoughts occur that wont cost a lot to check. 1 pull codes 2 check ecm fuse in fusebox under hood. 3 check connector on passenger side of trans , these will get hot and melt. may not help but cheap and fairly easy...
