    yanked down my transmission today to install a new rhinopac clutch kit from rockauto... P/N 07076 go to slap the pressure plate on and it wont align with the dowels. lay it over the old pressure plate and it wont line up with any of the holes, though to its credit, its at least the same...

    im against helicoils in this case because sideloading is not the helicoil strong suit. all things being equal its a tossup, because even with a helicoil youre still redrilling and retapping, just have to use their setup

    drill and tap the next size up. helicoil is just a little too chinsy for flywheel work. drilling the next pressure plate is no big deal. if the next guy doesnt have a 13/32 bit he had no business replacing a clutch to begin with.

    id guess its a repower i dont believe trucks in that weight class commonly got diesels in the 60s, not OEM, and that appears to be a 4 cylinder? maybe a perkins?

    like the "help" parts section at autozone or advance they are out on the floor... replacement parts like gas caps, pedal pads, lock barrels, mostly random stuff, but thats where they are. when i got mine i just walked into the store. i think it was $3.

    the rod is likely broken, its a crap piece of cast pot aluminum. i got a column from the junk yard with a broken linkage and it did the same thing you mentioned... the key switch just spun around. believe it or not you can get them in the help section. just make sure the pin that is pressed...

    had that same problem on my volvo, was a brake booster... not specifically the booster but the shaft inside it. either can go but i believe more often than not, the booster diaphragm goes out.

    okay ill go with that. heres a strange thing i noticed when going back to the old injectors: my truck made a lot less noise. the diesel "clatter" was much louder on the new injectors... i suppose that is due to them being tighter and fresher all around?

    yeah definitely have to consider the injection pump... its the next item that needs to be replaced and i believe the last thing in or on the engine that is original. it wasnt a totally wasted day as i found a significant oil leak and patched it up.
