    Glow plug controller

Go manual and never worry about it again! I bet the actual relay in the controller is still good and can be re-used.

the worst engineering part of your Ford?

Every Ford truck I've had got a Taurus dome light installed after my next junkyard trip. $4 and with some LEDs you can do surgery in there it's so bright! Maybe someone fudged a digit on an order back in '79 and the factory found themselves stuck with 10,000,000 robot-face dome lights, and...

the worst engineering part of your Ford?

Oh, it is definitely broken, and all along the top also at the defroster vents. I tried retrofitting it with the pass side metal bracket from a junkyard donor, but I think it needs a whole new dash. I'm guessing that when every one of the mounts (top, sides and bottom) aren't broken, the dash...

the worst engineering part of your Ford?

RATTLE squeek RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE OBS dashboards and also the little panels with the PW/L switches on the door panels. Structural plastic in general. The slant and brick I owned previously were dead quiet by comparison, but the OBS

For the members who have done the headlight relay modifications???

I swapped my lights with some cheaper "OEM" style replacements and a homemade relayed harness. Lows are brighter than my '05 Chevy. Brights are brighter than the sun. Recommend.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Replaced the stupid rivet that held the driver-side power lock actuator in place (until it came apart last week) with a screw and nut. I did this without removing anything but the inside door panel. Pretty sure I'm some sort of magician now.

Craigslist fail. IP = Glow plug distributor

Dunno guys, after a quick search I can't find a single other GPD anywhere, if these are the only ones left $250 is a steal...better jump on it! serious edit: Before I understood how compression ignition worked, I was confused about glow plugs and what purpose they served. To those...

Need yalls guidance on return cap o ring replacement please.

As long as it is petroleum-based any lube is OK, i.e. no KY or plumber's grease.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Sounds more like "So What Did Your Truck Do To You Today?" LOL When the Ford gods demand a blood sacrifice, usually busted knuckles will suffice but sometimes they want a little extra...

Need yalls guidance on return cap o ring replacement please.

If you tighten the hard inj line nuts to HAND tight you can crank in 10 sec intervals until you see fuel at the nuts. This will get the vast majority of air out. Tighten nuts down to proper torque and it should crank. As chris142 said it will run very rough for a few secs while it purges the...

Not your average glow plug thread

Sounds like wires may be the cause. As I understand it, the resistance of the gp banks is important to the controller, and bad connections will confuse it. Your controller may be acting up but the wires need to be ruled out first. I and many others here have made gp harnesses. For mine it was...

Door shells 81-86 and 87-91 door panels should this fit?

Power, so yeah manual may be different in the position of the handle. I would guess not, as the PW motor and regulator assembly is basically the same from 80-96. The PW switches require some splicing of course.

Door shells 81-86 and 87-91 door panels should this fit?

I had a set of bricknose panels on '84 doors, they work but a few strategically placed pan-head self-tappers were necessary. I think the armrest support is the same.

    2015 IDI weekend

Well that tears it, somebody has to at least have some plans to launch an F-series for a future rally. I would give it a shot but for my lack of rocketry experience (OK, had a few Estes kits as a kid)...

If i may ask what did you guy's pay for your truck or 7.3 or 6.9 powered vehicles?

They wanted $3100 for mine, had silly 16x10 Pacer rims and even worse tires on it, a/c didn't work, radiator leaking, no radio, but ok otherwise. I learned from my experiences with the previous 2 idis I've owned, and planned on a brake job also. To pay for it, I borrowed $4K; bought truck for...

    ooops

If this is for the 94 in your sig, then the "gauge" is little more than an idiot light. It is pretty easy to add an aftermarket real gauge, the OEM port is right there at the turbo. If for your 87, you may have a non-idiot gauge but like you said, what does a reading of "r" really mean? It means...

    Mileage thread

Just did my first trip with mine, to Trussville, AL, over to Morris, AL, and back home to Mobile. With cruise set at 80 I was still getting passed by all the other 4th of July travelers but averaged 16.5 mpg. The hills really didn't help. Had to watch the pyro constantly, as the cruise cares not...

Racor Fuel Water Seporator Mounting locations

I put a Vormax head on my old '84. Mounted on the driver side frame rail under the cab, it was very easy to service but so tall the water drain was visibly poking out. Would be great for a smaller head. Found a blurry old pic that may or may not help: e: I was able to use existing holes...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Took her across the bay, didn't realize one of the tunnels was closed for maintenance. This caused an unplanned shakedown of new cooling and A/C parts, which I am pleased to report kept the cab comfy and the engine at normal temps while sitting on the I-10 bridge for an hour in traffic each way.

    Nice to be here!

Or, since you don't need the 6 volt plugs anyway because you're on pushbutton and don't have to make the gp controller happy, keep those and make a new harness with bullet connectors. I built one for my '90 for about $25 in materials.

    Painting factory rims what color?

I roughed up the factory white E250 junkyard wheels I have and hit them with a few coats of Rustoleum hammered silver and some clear coat. I guess they look better than they did, but they still don't look like Alcoa's no matter how hard I squint...
