So what did you do with your truck today?

I'm sure that I will too. My biggest worry is that I ordered a Four Seasons compressor. Wes was saying that he had some quality issues with some of them. It seemed like just about every one that I saw was either the Four Seasons brand, made by Four Seasons and kind of rebranded, or cost double...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Since I'm not going to Colorado on vacation a week from Sunday, I decided to take the money that I thought I'd spend on fuel and put it towards the Blue Truck. I pulled the trigger on some A/C parts over lunch. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some cool air blowing through the cab without having...

Starter switch wiring to replace stock pushrod style switch

That's why I kept the key switch in my Blue Truck and only have the start function on a separate push button.

    1987 Crew Cab 2WD Build

My first question is "why were you torquing them to 150 lbs-ft when you have a 6.9?" The spec for head bolts is 80-85 lbs-ft (I don't remember which it is right now) so you were almost doubling the spec. Next time, try less torque and you probably won't have issues like this. When I stud my 6.9...

    Glow plug troubles

I would set your meter on the lowest setting (200) to check the ohms. You don't need to pull the glow plugs out of your engine. Disconnect the wire from the top of the glow plug, touch one lead to the top of the glow plug, then touch the other lead to a clean ground on the engine. Sometimes it's...

If it does, run to the closest patent office!

    Bronco Fuel Tank Install

No I haven't forgotten about this. Yesterday, I was so completely wore out after work that I came home and went to sleep on the couch for about an 1 1/2 hours. Today it was 107* when I left work at 4:00 so NOPE! Not working on it today. Tomorrow is supposed to be back in the double digits...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Last Friday, I had to renew the tags on my Blue Truck and my 1983 Gold Wing. I decided to go ahead and register the Ex Wife while I was there. I got the title back in the mail today, so now it's officially mine. Since it took me until the age of 49 to officially have an Ex Wife, I guess that I'm...

    Burnt out starter

Since your ignition switch was giving you troubles, I'm wondering if it isn't somehow related to that?

    7.3 idi turbo engine swap.

That's true. I've been expecting it here for the last 20 years or so.

    1987 Crew Cab 2WD Build

The gasket seals these holes. There is no plugs for these due to the shape. Your holes are kind of an oval shape while the ones in the 7.3s with the plugs are round. You can try to seal them up with something if you want. I have no suggestions on what to use though.

    1987 Crew Cab 2WD Build

Here you can just see the holes and plugs in the heads on the 7.3 that's in my Blue Truck right now. I wasn't taking a picture of the plugs so I didn't care how or if they were in the pictures.

    1987 Crew Cab 2WD Build

Yes they are coolant passages. IIRC the 7.3s had stainless plugs in these and they were round, but the 6.9s used to valley pan to keep coolant inside the heads. No engine coolant goes into our intakes for any reason.

    Electrical issues.

This may not help much, but I think that you have two separate problems. One is the electrical one. The other is the losing power under acceleration and trying to stall. Just remember that a lot of mechanics these days don't work on these engines and may have never seen one before.

    Bronco Fuel Tank Install

Well in case any one has been wondering, I did get the straps under the Bronco tank today and it's still in place after carrying 20 gallons of fuel 20 miles home from the gas station. Between the heat, mowing and spraying my yard yesterday, and my recent tendency to not be able to sleep well, I...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Today was a little like Clint Eastwood. There was good, bad and some ugly thrown in as well. The bad: I've been hearing a noise form the front end of the Blue Truck that sounds like a rattling shock, which it probably is since I've had the thing since 2013 and I've never replaced the shocks...

This is right. I was wrong when I said 22". It's been a while since I did anything with these so I forgot.

    Need some wheel help.

The ones that use tapered lug nuts are stud pilot. The ones that use a flat lug nut (on the inside where it contacts the rim) are hub pilot. For your international, I believe that you can buy brand new one piece rims that will work just fine. Maybe you'd have to go to 22" tires though. I'm not...

    Somebody better buy this truck!

I wonder why that stack is shown in two pictures but is in a different location in them? It also appears to have the wide radiator and A/C. Other than that, it looks just like the one that donated it's rear springs to my last Dent Side while I was still driving it. Even the same year.

    Glow plug troubles

This sounds just like me. I do the same thing. As for the manual bypass on the controller, all you have to do is to run your push button to a ground and then run the other side to the white wire than comes off of your controller. Cut the white wire first so that it only makes contact with...

Worried about my 7.3 IDIT's health

Before you condemn the engine, how's the health of your turbo? If there's a lot of play in the bearings, I can see where you might get some extra aluminum in your oil. Quite possibly the iron and chromium too. I don't know how much of a possibility that is, but I'm trying to throw out other...
