To All,
And especially to those friends here, who have followed this FIASCO,
Well I finally settled with the insurance company. = 4500.oo & about HALF of "Fair Market Value" for my NICE 1986 XLT Lariat, with <55,000 original miles.
BEFORE you consider being insured by PROGRESSIVE...
To All,
"The IN thing" in Bexar County & the surrounding counties seems to be STEALING pickup tailgates. = A friend, who is a BCSO Deputy, says that 2-4 are stolen each day!!!
(Lonnie G__________ says that more tailgates are stolen than wheels. hubcaps & tires here.)
yours, satx
towcat; All,
Towcat: 1st, you are definitely NOT any sort of ALPHA HOTEL. - Just a good/helpful/NICE guy, who can actually UN-complicate technical issues for neophytes like me.
(I can do my own routine/simple maintenance on an IDI truck but that's all that I know how to do. = SIMPLICITY is...
towcat; Thewespaul; CaptBuffalo,
The trucks are about the same price. The 1989 is missing the tailgate & needs a brake vacuum pump.
The 1984 has about half the miles & is in FINE shape as is BUT then I'd have to have the ZF installed.
(That's presuming that I can FIND a suitable ZF & the...
CaptBuffalo,
As the saying is, "When it rains, it pours" seems appropriate here. = I've now found a 1989 XLT Lariat with ZF & 131,000 miles about an hour SE of Houston.
Passing strange, eh??
yours, satx
CaptBuffalo,
Thanks for the information. = Presuming that the administrator of the estate & I can come to a price, that benefits us both, I shall be looking for a suitable ZF & other parts.
yours, satx
Friends,
Last evening I found a 1984 F250 XLT near Ft Worth that has 71,000 original, ONE owner, miles.
(It's out of a 81YO gentleman's estate with all the maintenance records, so I guess that I'm no longer looking for a PU.)
yours, satx
towcat,
THANKS.
Well that's a pity. - I know where a WRECKED, low mileage, 1994 F250 is with the 460 gasser & a ZF is, sitting out in a pasture.
(I'm NOT looking for a re-drilling project.)
For the time being, I'll drive the PU with the T-19, as it's NOT that bad of a transmission...
towcat,
What do you figure that the chance of finding another nearly identical 1986 truck, that's always been "in the family" (i.e., essentially a "one owner" 30YO truck), is with less than 115,000 original miles??
A pretty LOW chance is my guess.
Also, what do I have to do to change a...
Dear Friends,
SURPRIZE, SURPRIZE. - This afternoon I've found a NEARLY IDENTICAL 1986 XLT Lariat pickup (even the same color scheme ) to the one that I had "returned to stock" over about 100 days & that was demolished by the drunk driver on 19AUG16.
(NO, it's NOT as nice as the one that I...
CaptBuffalo,
Actually, I've no real interest in a model of my PU. Instead, I need another NICE truck to drive & to pull my antique boats.
(NO, I have no photos, as I don't even own a camera.)
I seriously doubt if lightening strikes in the same place & that I'll NOT find another truck...
To ALL,
Fwiw, I'm still looking for a ONE-OWNER, LOW mileage, 5-speed, 2WD, Super-cab diesel PU. Most any color is OK except Black. - IF anyone has such a vehicle for sale OR knows of one, please email me at: [email protected]
yours, satx
Cruiseomatic,
Since we last talked, "a little bird" at a local LE agency told me that there have been any number of citizen's complaints against the "hateful SGT" for unwarranted rudeness, needless nastiness & overt bigotry.
(The officer that "clued me in" said that the SAPD is looking...
Cruiseomatic,
NOPE. - One of the 5 SAPD officers called out, "Does anyone know whose vehicles that these are?"
(I walked over to where he was standing & said, "They are mine." - He asked me if I had the insurance papers. - I told him that the insurance papers are in the glove compartment...
Cruiseomatic,
Pardon me for pointing out that this is San Antonio, rather than Harris County.
Agreed on unmarked "back roads". Moreover, there are MANY city streets that are so poorly marked that it's difficult to figure out (especially after dark) where you are in Bexar County. - For...
Cruisomatic,
NOPE. - No inventory was done of either vehicle (or of the drunk driver's vehicle). - Instead of being asked if I wanted to remove anything from my vehicles, the supervising SGT said, "Go sit down over by that stone wall. We don't need your advice on this incident."
I went to...
towcat; All,
November in South Texas is hardly ever cold. - In fact, it may still be HOT in the daytime & "comfortable short sleeve weather" by 2000 hours OR possibly raining like H.
(This IS Texas after all.)
yours, satx
Thewespaul,
PICK ONE long weekend & ANNOUNCE the dates is my sincere advice. - ONE reason that the previous get-together failed was discussing WHEN it would be.
(Whatever you pick, I'm IN & hopefully will be driving my "new to me" diesel truck.)
Note: I purchased a little 1995 Mercedes...
