Engine seems to sound fine in your video. Oil analysis should tell you something if you can get some mileage on the next oil change before the bearings sieze, lol. I ran mine out of oil once, or almost did. Drove off without checking for leaks and oil filter was pouring oil out. No damage...

    Van Restoration Project

Man... what you trying to tell me here? lol And, i'd really like to see that van up close. Never seen another IDI van in person of 92-94 vintage.

    Van Restoration Project

All the new trim redone and reinstalled. Finally coming together... This door still needs some work, mainly the chunk out of it. Would really like to just find a new whole piece, but haven't been able to find it. Getting there. Installing more insulation as I go to by gluing it to the...

    Van Restoration Project

And all back together. Nice to report no known leaks or rust now... Found new bug shield finally, woho. I like the look of this one much better than any of the new ones. They only made this one for a year or two back in 1992. Nicely sealed front cowl against new window. So finally on...

    Van Restoration Project

After the layers of chassis saver and urethane sealant around the edges and new windshield. The white Monstaliner was put on. This is midway through 1st coat. Here it's done. It turned out okay. It started to cure half way through the second coat so i got chunks of rubberized coating in...

    Van Restoration Project

So, out came the windshield. cleaning it and priming it. Nice new windshield with new OEM molding. No more rust. Wish I had taken better/more pictures of the rust situation. I used a needle scaler and sand paper to get most of it off. Would have loved to have sand blasted it, but...

    Van Restoration Project

Okay, so it's been a while. I've been slowing chipping away at it and have made some good progress lately. Will try to show it all here... The main accomplishment and the thing I've been planning for some 5 years now was defeating the roof rust. I sand blasted all of the rust off the roof...

Laserjock, I am the one who is on redhead number 3. Out of curiosity, do you happen to have a filter installed on your return line on your power steering pump? I have one installed and I am beginning to think the filter is causing some of my issues by restricting flow...

OFFICIAL Red Head Steering Box Group Buy Thread

Well i just went and found a New OEM on ebay, think i'm done with rebuilt aftermarket. Now i need to call Redhead and see if they'll refund. If not, anyone want a brand new redhead? lol

OFFICIAL Red Head Steering Box Group Buy Thread

I turned it lock to lock several dozen times, kept the fluid full. I realize returning to center is done by the wheels, but if gear box has too much resistance, the wheels cannot overcome it. You can only adjust the caster so much...

OFFICIAL Red Head Steering Box Group Buy Thread

Gear number 2 didn't return to center from the begining. It didn't leak though, so i was at first happy. However it was concerning with no return to center at begining too. I agree, alignment could be an issue, but it's been checked and is within spec. Also, the old discount auto gear...

OFFICIAL Red Head Steering Box Group Buy Thread

Well, gear number 2 was having issues returning to center. It was to the point where it just didn't feel safe to drive, i especially wouldn't feel good about anyone else driving it. About 1 turn of the wheel either way and the steering wheel would just stay turned, no return to center at all...

When you did your test drive, did your red head gear seem to be working well? Could you tell if it was returning to center properly? I think i'm about to call them again in the next couple days and request a new one, as mine still won't return to center.

    7.3 idi oil cooler questions

You push off the ends. I think i used a large quick clamp switched around so it was pushing apart instead of clamping. Also used a combination of the vise and a 2x4 to help too. When you put it back together, you put the Orings on the bundle. Some of the books for some reason have it...

    Sad Timing News

I think they sell some things you can put in the case that will break when a certain level of vibration/loading occurs. Maybe could put some of those in there to see what is going on. It's either that or put an actual powered vibration meter in there to record it.

Definitely want an OEM throttle cable. The aftermarket ones are complete garbage. If you get both of them and look at them side-by-side the OEM one is so much better built it's just ridiculous. A new aftermarket one probably wouldn't even be as good as your crappy old OEM one. I would not...

    Van Restoration Project

So been slowing working on the headliner so I can tackle other items finally. Upholstery place couldn't find material big enough for it. They wanted to do it with a seam on it so I said hell no. So after looking around forever I could only find a really really light gray, almost a white that...

Looking pretty swanky. I'm curious where you are putting that fuse panel, you might have said somewhere back in the other 97 pages but I probably missed it. Also, I assume you got the high temp wire loom? I didn't in years past and after a couple months/years at high heat it just cracks apart.

    Recall notice

I got one of the pigtails. All it is, is an automotive fuse installed inline with the hot side. Not sure what the amperage is on it because it's all wrapped up in tape, but i'm guessing pretty low. If you wanted you could just make your own. When I brought it in, the customer service rep...

Basically new Michelin LTX A/T2 tires 245/75/R16

I have four Michelin LTX A/T2 tires that I want to sell. They have about 1000 miles on them. They've been on the van for three years. While it was being worked on the tires only had 30 psi on them and I had the van on jack stands so there are no flat spots. I like the tires but they are just...

When the engine is under load doesn't if shift a bit? Is that going to cause the downpipe to hit the cab even with 1/4" - 3/8" clearance?

7 PSI radiator cap for my IDI

I recently switched to the 7 PSI cap too. I forget who it was on here, maybe type4 that said he had been running one for years without cavitation issues. Figured half the pressure would make half the leaks...

Nice. Sucks about the paint. Same kinda thing happen to me a couple months ago. My weed wacker fell off the wall and dented the van right next to the rear window, like the most horrible spot to try to fix... Your intercooler piping makes me cringe about how I will ever rig mine up too. I...

Is that over spray on the frame making it red? What are you going to do with the extra room under the hood now?

i find your lack of smoke, disturbing.

From what I remember he left the new cam in the old engine. My guess is that his butt dyno just isnt ultra resolute and the other engine is infact making more torque. But yes, likely a bit less efficient with the torque cam with the extra smoke.
