    upgraded headlights finally

Guess I would put this in a van forum if there were one... but upgraded my headlights finally to be true HID projectors.. Basically, got some new headlights housings, pulled them all apart, cut them up some, and installed some new projectors and shrouds with the LED halos. Once i got it...

    Econoline fuel gage issue

I would check for loose connectors. If the connector wasn't pushed together all the way then there's potential it worked at first then a hard bump knocked it apart. Happened to my fuel gauge once. I went around without for like five years until i just came upon it by accident one day and...

    Are you guys 100% sure.....

I pulled my pump with the housing one time. Seemed to work out... only problem i had was getting the housing to seal up properly on the front cover. It still leaks a tiny bit but it's so crudded up with dirt and oil now that it has pretty well sealed itself off, lol The main problem with...

How do I fix this fuel leak?

If you look on youtube there is a video showing how to replace this o-ring. I replaced mine a couple months ago. There are two different styles, I think one style uses one o-ring and the newer style uses two o-rings of different sizes. I wasn't sure which one I had so i bought big bags of all...

    Coolant change keeping it simple.

I would just use a green low silicate coolant like Zerex or Fleetrite if you can still find it. Is Fleetcharge stuff pink in color? seems like I used it right before my motor cavitated through a while back, can't remember now...

good source for new valve cover?

Well I can't get my passenger side valve cover to stop leaking. I've hammered it flat best I could and got new gaskets, RTV, etc, and it doesn't want to stop. I'm thinking just get a new cover and try that, there must be something wrong with this one I'm not seeing. I found some new ones on...

    Lucas Super Coolant

If you're just needing additive, amazon has it. That's where I've been buying it. Test strips too... http://www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-Diesel-engine-coolant-additive/dp/B0065SZU8I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378430341&sr=8-1&keywords=vc8...

    Lucas Super Coolant

Are you asking if this can replace diesel additives or are you asking if this can be used safely in addition to the normal diesel additives? Are you having overheating issues? If not why would you use this? Even if you were why would you use this? It's just some snake oil in my opinion. I...

    Oil in the coolant?

How does your oil look? Coolant in the oil? Cavitation will do this too in which case you are boned.

Will a 7.3 idi out of 1990 ford van...

I dont believe you can swap oil coolers, the bolt holes on the block are different. You will need to leave the van oil cooler on. Also, i think on the mounts, the holes on the block are the same just the mounts differ. Now that you have both engines you should be able to look and tell.

    Roof treatment

I would do it. Infact I'm going to do my roof soon, and the insides. I'm going to use this, http://www.monstaliner.com/monstaliner_faq.htm From what i've read it's way better than most of the others and UV proof and all that. I got the rust stopper stuff and then the actual bedliner...

    leaks are quite defeating...

I've been trying to make my rig leak free for quite a while now and boy it sure is proving to be an illusive goal. The only two things I've defeated are the transmission oil pan and the fuel filter. I tried conquering the power steering leak over the past 3 or 4 days now. Replaced the...

For those of you with vans. I salute you.

Man, the alternator is about the only easy thing to work on too, lol. Try doing power steering, or just a fuel filter change out.

Ok.. One more time on the sca's please

The lower compression ratio on the powerstroke should greatly reduce cavitation effects. I think you'll be fine even if there is no evidence of SCAs. I would add SCAs though. I would suggest just looking in the owners manual to see what kind of coolant is specified there.

    Is this normal (pics)

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say... yes, lol LOL Looks like you're good to go.

    water neck pic needed

Dunno, never really looked at one out of a truck. If I had to guess though, yes. The only differences that I know of are the engine mounts, oil cooler, and position of the fuel filter.

    is this a grounding issue?

That would not be a grounding issue. I think something is up with your alternator or voltage regulator is going out maybe. If you disconnect the alternator while is doing this what happens? Do the batteries hold everything steady? The glowplugs aren't clicking on and off are they?

    napacool

Napacool will work but from what I understand the fleetguard/ford additive will give you additional protection. They're like the same price so really no reason to not use the ford version, it's known as VC-8 now, or at least a year or two ago it was. It's really best to just add a coolant...

    general brake question

I have a general brake question. When you have a brake system that is functioning the way it is supposed to, everything is sealed and good... when you run your engine and your brake lines heat up to 150+ degrees in the engine compartment and the brake fluid expands, even slightly, where does...

    What the heck!

Man, this thread is killing me. I sure wish you lived close to someone on here, would be fixed in no time. And oil in your intake is pretty well standard procedure for an IDI. If someone knows anything about anything, they should know that you cant just "look" at an engine and tell that it's...

    More Hydroboost fun..

autzone.com or napa.com will list the port sizes for you, just look up the model and year. It's likely 9/16" though. On the super duty 1-5/16" master cylinder I had a while back the port sizes were 7/16" on the rear and 9/16" on the front. Here is a link to some adapters. If you don't...

Holy stopping power Batman!!! Hydroboost installed!

Well I just read most of the posts and maybe i missed it. But... if you don't change out the master cylinder and just replace the booster what exactly makes your brakes better? The only thing I can see is that the petal will become easier to push down as you're getting more boost. The...
