I just got done driving the truck 1450 miles from Kentucky to Colorado. I had a bad run with a cross threaded injector line, and an injector that decided to hang open the day before I left which sounded to me like it had swallowed a valve. I weighed only 14k and came out without much issue. I...
I may look into those Amsoil filters when I need a new filter. Depending on how hard they are to clean that could be really nice. I'm running a Donaldson 805011 right now. I did a lot of research on one time use paper filters and it looked like that and the Napa 6637 were best, but the...
I don't know if the IDI is better than the gasser, as I've never even driven one that new.
My truck was on its second engine when I got it with 250k on it, it is now on its third. They can go 400k but its not exactly common. I have replaced the entire fuel system and clutch, and obviously...
I would, but I've been dealing the same issue for a few years now. I don't really know what I'll do with a tach when I actually have one I've been doing without so long.
I pulled the injectors a week ago to send them to Russ for testing and adjustment. Unfortunately, I was in a huge rush to get out of town for a school competition and neglected to cover the engine to keep out water. Well, the hood-cowl seal isn't the greatest and it rained while I was gone. I...
Too bad. I'm looking pretty hard for one in similar condition (for a similar price) but Maryland is a little far. Bring it to KY and I'll give you 3 12 packs.
I'm tired of twisting injectors in and out with an adjustable wrench. They look to be just under or maybe equal to 1 inch. So do I need a 15/16 or 1" deep well socket, or have I missed the size completely?
Unfortunately I missed out on the AutoRX group buy a few months ago. I'm pretty sure that there were a few people who wanted in but missed out, and maybe time has gone by enough that we could get another group buy together? Last time a guy bought it all, and people paid him for however many...
I put an aftermarket filter on mine on the driver side frame rail. I didn't want to mess with the plastic line so I just cut into the metal line a bit further forward. Cut in two places, slip 5/16 fuel line on and clamp, add filter in between and you're done. I did mine in an hour.
With my filter setup, I could just run a longer pipe out the front of the truck and have the filter out in the air in front of the truck. Can't get much better cold air intake than that. The hood wouldn't close all the way, and obviously I'd only do it on a back road in the country. But that...
You talkin to me?
This is what I did http://www.oilburners.net/forums/showthread.php?48021-How-I-got-rid-of-my-old-style-Banks-airbox&highlight=
I too was not a fan of an oiled filter in there.
I have had my donaldson on in place of the banks box about a year now and haven't noticed any difference no matter the temperature. I did notice a big difference when I removed the banks box, the new setup certainly delivers more oxygen to the engine. And when I lift the hood, I can actually...
Surgery. I took it to an exhaust guy and we cut out the part that goes past the trans, and welded in a bent piece. Cost less than having the whole thing remade. Make sure you leak test unless you really trust the shop. Mine wouldn't make any boost it was so bad.
So was it running fine one second and the next second completely dead? Usually running out of fuel it will surge and sputter for a while before totally dying. Either way I would strongly suggest you make sure the fuel shutoff solenoid is working. Its on the IP, just turn the key to "RUN" and...
The inside of that oil cooler (if its anything like the IDI) has a ton of fins the oil has to pass through. Its a very efficient heat exchanger. Exiting oil is close to coolant temp, which assuming it is basically a straight shot from the radiator to the cooler, isn't too hot. I wouldn't want...
I don't see your signature, but I can see others signatures, so I don't know what you have. I wouldn't do it without a dually myself. My rear tires are load range E, rated for something like 3400 lbs each if memory serves, so with a load like that I know I'd be overloading them and a blowout...
