    I'll probably completely eliminate the controller one of these days, maybe this weekend. But this voltage is only present at the glow plugs when the key is on, so while the truck is just sitting there in the driveway its not draining the batteries, unless the key is on.

    I would contact VDO and try to just buy new wires. Shouldn't be that expensive, and you want it accurate. You're looking at very small voltages that are turned into a temperature reading, so any differences you make with your connection could cause problems.

    I cut a hole just to the right of where my WTS and WIF lights are installed. Its a pretty good spot. My only complaint is its a little hard to see sometimes with both hands on the wheel, and if the afternoon sun hits it right you can't really see it without shading it with your hand.
