Replaced glow plug relay with White Rodgers, still doesn't work.

Sure sounds like what mine did after I put in new GP marked Motorcraft that I got off EBay. Yep China junk. I could do the same thing as you and it would start. The amperage draw is not correct. The set would draw about 100 amps total and it is much closer to 200 amps when everything is correct...

Rule of thumb high side is 2 to 2 1/2 times what ambiant temp is.

    starts then dies

When cold pull an injector line off and observe fuel flow. When hot do the same. If you can put some sort of catch container between line and nozzle you can measure the amount of fuel if you can crank it the same amount of time each try. Sounds like the head in the pump is having issues. As...

    Question on disassembling injectors

Years ago when I rebuilt nozzles I would throw them in carb cleaner and let them soak for half a day or so. It helps loosen up the carbon under the nut and less chance of shearing the pins that way.

    No crank

If the dash and HVAC system are working turn them and your headlamps on for a couple of minutes. Then start feeling connections and cables when you find a hot spot you have found your problem. Also after a couple of minutes of loading the batteries measure the voltage and see what you have. This...

    Coolant leak

Put a radiator pressure tester on it and pump it up to 15 pounds and you should have a pretty good idea where it is leaking from. Every tool box should have one.

    Whats this leaking now?

Put a radiator pressure tester on it and pump it up to 15 pounds and you should have a pretty good idea if it is coolant or not.

    Oil pressure delay

Why would you need anti-drain back? The filter is lower than the mount it screws too, correct?

Hopefully we can agree that it was great to hear the OP got going again.

Turbo Heat Deflector Plate in the way of #7 Glow Plug

Factory or aftermarket? I do not recall a shield on mine when I did them last fall. Was not real easy to get to however it was do able. Mine is a factory set up though.

    No start/crank

Are they? Under normal starting conditions can we agree that you will see a voltage drop across the battery terminals when cranking? The question though is how much voltage drop is normal. That depends on many things and can change from time to time on the same system and still be normal. For...

    Turn signal / wiper wiring

One thing to check on your wipers is to make sure the park wiper is making contact. Do the wipers park correctly now when using Hi-Low? If not or they continue to run that is a pretty good indication that the park switch is not making good contact. Couple of ways to approach that issue, replace...

    No start/crank

Not sure I am following franklin that well. Here is my take on doing voltage drop test. Still need two people and a digital voltmeter. Start at one of the batteries put one lead on the positive post and other lead on the clamp that is attached to that post. Try cranking and see what voltage...

Wiper are doing som silly s@&$

I would guess the park switch in the wiper motor is not making good contact. The contacts loose tension. Probably can pull the electrical cover off the motor, clean the old grease up, bend contact arms, lube and make it work again.

    92 IDI fon electrical..

Check for bad grounds. Also have both the tail lamp and turn signal lamps on at the same time other wise it will back feed and find a ground. You have to remember that the frame is one big wire and half the circuit.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Found time to get the power master starter install this evening. Not a bad job overall. May pull the starter cable sometime and put a straight end on it. For now I just made an adapter to change the angle. Looked like the one that came out was the one from the factory. Still had the OEM part...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Truck told me it wanted some new batteries. Had been sitting for about 3 days. It did start, just very slow cranking. The ones that came out were 7 years old so guess they did well. Crazy what new batteries ones sell for now days. I farm and sometimes do not quite until the sun goes down...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Changed the oil, oil filter, and fuel filter. First time since I have owned the truck. I had put 4000 miles on it and the oil was changed just before I bought it. Fuel filter was marked Feb 2022. Ran to town and bought a filter wrench as the ten or so around here that I had none fit. Also picked...

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

I have to wonder how much additional we add to the atmosphere when an engine is deleted? Would we have been better off to stop awhile back in tier levels and call it good? Chipped trucks certainly do not leave a good impression with many around them.

    Electric fuel pump wiring

This site should give you the information you need. https://www.wiringtoday.com/12-volt-relay-wiring-diagrams/ The diagram for the cooling fan will work for your fuel pump. Just ignore terminal 87 you will not need it. You will need a oil pressure switch to control the relay, not a sensor...

Electrical adventures thread - I blew or burned out something...

I find they are usually in circuits that need protection but as a rule will never have an issue that would cause one to blow. Such as feeds coming off the main power sources. Those systems (lights, gauges, etc.) are normally protected by fuses and the links provide the protection for the feed...

    Charging question

Do a voltage drop test under load and it will tell you what is going on. Cheep drop test, put it under load for a few seconds such as cranking it over turn on headlights etc and then feel for a hot spot. Heat equals resistance and that will be your trouble spot.

No fuel to injectors, IP full

Dumb question but you did connect the power wire back to the shut off solenoid and you can hear it click when you turn the key on and depress the throttle a little?

So what did you do with your truck today?

Still on the test in Idaho. I still drive a couple of cars that came out of the factory long before anyone thought we needed turn signals.
