I do not see how it can blow the fuse if the relay is disconnected as there is no path to the horn switch. If you trace the wires on the diagram you see that yellow light blue is the power from the fuse that goes to lighter and horn relay. It has to go through the relay coil coming out on pin 1...
The horn button is at ground potential when depressed. Allows the coil in the relay to pull the arm over making contact with I believe pin 6 sending power onto the horns. I suspect you have a grounded wire between the relay and the horns. Disconnect the wires at the horn and push the button I...
What style rims do you have will determine what sort of spacer you need. Might post some pictures. What size tires are you trying to mount? Is this a true dually or a conversion like I run? If a very thick spacer you will probably need to have longer studs installed. How much clearance do you...
Still two sending units one a switch and one a resistor. Doing the same thing a Murphy gauge would do with the exception that the switch is inside the gauge on a Murphy and its purpose is to shut down the engine instead of turning on a light.
You are also correct that I had not looked a the...
Word of caution, DO NOT RUN YOUR FINGERS OR HAND AROUND A LEAK WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING! High pressure fuel can be injected into your body. The out come is never nice.
Are we using the same terminoligy? The unit that controls the gauge is called a sender. The unit that controls the light is a switch. First is a variable resister the second open close switch. The only thing that I recall is different is a Murphy system where the switch is built into the gauge...
You would not by chance be low on coolant and the engine is actually overheating a bit? Since it is two different senders and both are saying hot it would make me wonder.
Not a fork lift, just forks on a loader tractor. Handy as a button on a shirt. Tractor is also 4x4 and hydrostat so goes most anywhere and you do not have to slip a clutch.
Personally I use a fork lift fork. I feed hay all the time so just pull the hay forks off that frame and sit the fork lift fork on. Have a hole in the end of the fork that I drop a pin that is welded to a piece of 4 inch square tubing through and then chain goes through the tubing. No way for...
Are you saying you have no ground circuit to the engine? If that is correct then I would check your ground cables where they bolt to the block. At least on mine there is a cable off each battery. Make sure where they bolt to the block that they are clean and tight. Make sure that the battery...
Well a test light will catch about 90 percent of the bad ones. Pull all the wires off the glow plugs. Connect the clip of the test light to battery positive post and then probe the connector tip of each glow plug. The test light should light up. If it does not that glow plug is open and needs...
How cold does it get in Wisconsin in the winter. Might be a good excuse to replace that missing block heater. You have not answered the question of what you have for test equipment. I like to test first before throwing money at things.
I doubt that it will. That system would be the first thing I would be looking at. As was suggested plug in the block heater if it has one and if it works, that should give you a pretty good idea.
It might bring up the numbers on the cylinders those were in, should not effect others though. If you would have done a cylinder leakage test before pulling the heads it would have told you where the lose was. Tip the heads so valves are up and pour some solvent on top of the valves. Watch and...
I doubt they are all of your problem. Might make it harder starting and probably a miss. You are low on compression in 6 out of 8 cylinders. From this distance it looks like a tired engine.
I suspect the motor mounts will be different. IH trucks usually have one mount in the front and two in the back usually on a SAE bell housing.
The way I do it get both engines sitting side by side and just start swapping. Do not be surprised if you get down to a long block before starting back...
Just because you have new glow plugs, controller, etc. does not mean that they are working. It takes what 15-20 minutes to run through and check the system. Be the first thing I would do if it was mine. I personally use an amp meter to mearsure how much those plugs draw in the system. The whole...
Does the air flow switch when it acts up? You could put a gauge on the system and see what you have or connect a hand vacuum pump to the supply hose of the HVAC system and see if it holds vacuum.
The way this block can be salvaged is to deck it and get it flat. Then the rods will have to be reworked to get the piston height correct again. Then I would suspect the intake will have to be reworked to sit correctly on the heads. Yes it can be done and has been in the past. Is it worth doing...
The machinist I worked with years ago when installing repair sleeves would leave a ledge at the bottom of the hole for the sleeve to sit on. That way there is no way for the sleeve to drop. The other way is as franklin says a sleeve with a lip on top.
This block pictured could be salvaged...
