    7.3 IDI excessive oil usage

I grabbed mine from the grocery store isle, years ago, which is usually expensive....can’t remember price. I have one for coolant samples and one for oil samples. And of course one in the kitchen that never leaves the kitchen

Oh I completely agree, he is dreaming at $5k. It just looks like it would be a great work truck once it’s sorted. That is if you could buy it cheap!! 4x is almost a must around here. My van, which has more weight over the rear tires (I think) and only 2 of them, plus an over active LSD cause I...

    Someone go get it!!!

In complete confession, besides the 6 cars I own now, I had another 11 purchased (scrap prices) and hidden. Was creating a forever parts yard for what I wanted to drive. Well buddy sold everything and said goodbye to CO and moved to Fallon NV. I had to confess to the wife. I vowed to myself to...

@IDIBRONCO we usually have one last freeze in April, and the first freeze mid-late October. Strong sun hours though. Must water as our humidity is low. I guess the used to have Apple Orchards in Paradox Valley. Then I can run up to Palisade or Paiona/Hotchkiss for Peaches, Cherries and such...

@Old Goat boy that sucks!! Our FedEx and UPS drivers are great guys and we have each others phone numbers. I usually greet them and help in anyway I can as I know those guys are slammed.

“Honey, check the fuel while I fill the oil!!” Wow, that is crazy amounts, how did you catch it before ruining your engine? Any updates on this?

Been chasing other issues, now is my injection pump dead?

I bought this a few years back, I find it quite handy on old rigs.... https://otctools.com/products/vacuumpressure-gauge-kit Harbor freight has one for $20 I saw. Otherwise you are in better hands than me, stick with it and these awesome folks will get you over this hurdle!

I have a 9 and almost 11 year old. 3 teens would break me. I buy my meat from trusted sources back in SD. I need to grow a garden and learn to can. I am beginning to understand why dad would come home with 6 gallons of milk, 60 eggs and 20lbs of potatoes :rotflmao

    Belt driven fuel pump discussion

Thank you for the update!! Is your engine oil a lot cleaner as well? With the centrifuge I assume you are getting used wvo. Which I assume is easy to acquire in your line of work if still doing a similar job. One thing I missed, are you still on the original IP to the engine when you started...

3.55 gears vs 4.10s with gear vendors

I don’t have the experience these guys do but after reading their input. And you saying you mostly run empty, I’d be apt to have 2 rigs if you have the space and the budget. Your DD (gear it for 75), then your tow rig (gear it for 65) @silexis has the exact setup you’re talking about and he...

So what did you do with your truck today?

That’s great mpg given what you are doing. The newer rigs may beat you on power but not on mileage. My BIL farms as well, his deleted 6.7 CC flatbed shows 13 on his read out and I’m not sure he pulls as much as you until harvest or bringing bales home.

Us van owners wanna see inside photos!! What’s your standup height? Should you not want the AUX OD, you could do as posted above, low slip converter and maybe even swap in a higher geared axle. What axle does it have now? It drove and got you home! These things are awesome. Welcome

So what did you do with your truck today?

@IDIBRONCO I love it!! They are handy as all get out. Mine was my first vehicle. Had more rust than dads ‘79 so it became a trailer. I bought it in ‘93 for $500. Drove it until ‘03 when it became a trailer. Been a trailer half it’s life now  It was ordered as a 1984 C10, 305 sbc...

So what did you do with your truck today?

@IDIBRONCO and I both have redneck pickup box trailers. I noticed his trailer axle (which is an old pickup axle just like mine still with leaf springs) has a different lug pattern than his tow vehicle, just like mine. I do just like him actually, I throw the spare on top or strap it to the...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Where do you keep your trailer spare? Mine was mounted to the bed front, but that didn’t work. I’ve been thinking about swapping an 8-lug axle underneath so I could just use the 1-spare for both the trailer and tow vehicle.

Why did you stay mechanical? Were you ever debating electric? Seems most are converting. I plan to stay mechanical as well.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Hooked up battery cables, cycled GP’s twice and Wally fired instantly!! Surprised me as it had been 4+ months I think. Took it up the highway to warm it up. Crisp shifts and I forgot how much power it has for NA and 7500’ elevation. On a bad note, I smell mice. Need to fix the #1 return line...

Is it worth mentioned that the CDR valve gasket is in good order as to not have water get into the crank case?
