Surface mount hitch receiver on front bumper to carry bikes?

I decided to buy a better bike carrier too. Found this one for dirt cheap on Amazon. It's $139 PLUS paid shipping from the company's website. It only holds two (vs 4 of old) but that's all I need. I like that style, because the existing one has rubber mounts for nylon straps, and one is...

Surface mount hitch receiver on front bumper to carry bikes?

Actually, I just ordered two of these on eBay for $30.97 with tax and shipping. That looks superior to the $10 ones, partly because you can replace the bolts, if the threads get damaged or the bolt breaks. But also the overall design seems like it'll be better...

Surface mount hitch receiver on front bumper to carry bikes?

I got the riser today. It looks like a good setup to me. It's inserted as far into the hitch as possible, based on the 3 holes in the riser. It only sticks out a little bit beyond the bumper and places the receiver tube up more like where it should be, height wise. But the receiver on the...

    Rock Auto, scam on shipping?

Dunno what to tell you. RockAuto has packed things fine for me. Maybe it's a certain warehouse that has a sloppy packer. The box I got a couple months ago. Tons of padding and taped fine. The RockAuto tape is just a garnish, after regular clear tape. Edit: the bubble packs may have been from...

    Floor Jack Safety Safety Rod.

I wouldn't trust it. I like jack stands of this type. 22 ton is overkill but that's what I got for the RV (a single one). They're lower profile than the typical ratchet ones, meaning you don't have to jack up the vehicle as high. The lowest raise hole was enough for the RV to remove the rear...

    Rock Auto, scam on shipping?

Paid $11 shipping mid November for a big heavy transmission cooler. Entirely reasonable. Still saved some money over Summit with "free" shipping.

    Dim bulbs in cluster?

The LEDs were in a 78 Dodge I haven't had for almost 10 years I was just mentioned how I had a dim cluster issue before. I tried regular 194s first, then tried LEDs. LEDs were slightly better but still dim.

    Rock Auto, scam on shipping?

It's really not, with RockAuto. I paid $25 shipping a year ago for a big order that included all 4 shocks for the E350. Other stuff included radiator hoses. It was all from a single warehouse. In the same order, I got fleetrunner 9580HD belts for $17.90 each ($40 at O'Reilly). The $15 each...

    Dim bulbs in cluster?

The cluster is based on 1973-79 F series. I ran across 8 green LEDs for $16 being, being sold as for 67-79 F series, with a 73-79 photo. I'm not in a big hurry, so I'll entertain other options. I almost never drive when it's very dark. That's why it took me over a year to realize they were...

    Rock Auto, scam on shipping?

I have bought shocks on RockAuto multiple times. They're heavy. RockAuto does a better job of taping than Amazon. Their boxes are plenty heavy duty too. Aside from that... what are you babbling about? It's $21 for 30 bulbs on RockAuto (10 each of 194, 1156, 1157) for the exact same Sylvania...

    Rock Auto, scam on shipping?

Here is an example of why Rockauto is STILL superior even when you factor in shipping. Look how much a 2pk of 194 bulbs costs at oreilly. $8!!! $4 per bulb!! That should be illegal...

Surface mount hitch receiver on front bumper to carry bikes?

I ordered this for pretty cheap being "used". That'll help to raise up whatever I carry on the front. I don't like how low the bike carrier sits in the hitch itself, I can't keep an eye on straps/bikes when driving. Plus it sticks out more than the riser adapter. So, the riser will help...

    Dim bulbs in cluster?

It appears that there's only two bulbs for the entire backlight on 3rd gen Econoline clusters. Pics from eBay listings for reference. The other two bulbs between the side gauges are for turn signals and warnings. Top bulb is high beam. Bottom one.... not sure. Maybe it's also backlight.

    Dim bulbs in cluster?

Is there something common that makes the bulbs in the cluster be very dim? I searched before posting this, and the only thread that was relevant was from 2011, with no resolution to the problem. The OD switch on the dash and the HVAC controls are good and bright, and the dimmer does function...

Surface mount hitch receiver on front bumper to carry bikes?

All done. It's about 7.25" +/- from the ground at bottom the receiver tube. I can't get an accurate measurement right now, being on loose, sandy dirt. But that's good enough clearance for my intended use of cargo carrying. The pitman arm just makes contact with the hitch at the same time that...

Surface mount hitch receiver on front bumper to carry bikes?

Someone lent me their DeWalt grinder with a cutoff wheel and grinding wheel. My trash picked 2500W generator I got and repaired a couple years ago worked good for it, even with it's clogged carburetor, because I turned up the idle to compensate for the clogged idle circuit. The hitch ALMOST...

California ( and others ), RV's, and more laws...

Nah, it's not. Smog in cities used to be horrific, just due to unfiltered exhaust. Unless you lived in a major city back then, you have no idea. My mom recalls how bad Sacramento smog used to be in the 60s-Early 80s. California emissions for gasoline vehicles went into effect in 1975, but a ton...

Surface mount hitch receiver on front bumper to carry bikes?

This is definitely not a bolt on application. I'm having to drill 4x 1/2" holes in the frame. I also had to drill an extra 1/2" hole in the hitch bracket, due to having to work around the power steering gear's inner frame reinforcement section. Inside the driver side frame, that wall in the...

6.9 idi lacks low end torque/power

It's about $30 for a Equus mechanical water temperature gauge, be with the adapter needed included to fit IDIs. Available at O'Reilly and various online stores. I had it mounted in the RV in an interesting way. Once it almost hit 240 because I forgot and had A/C on while going up a pretty...
