That sounds like a something to do with the glow plug controller. I know on automatic systems (I have a manual press button system which I would recommend to avoid issues like these) the controller is connected to a sensor and the controller dictates how long to kick on the glow plugs based off...
So you’re saying it starts hard and dies, you bleed it and then it starts fine? If it runs good when you’re driving it, I would say that you’ve just got a knicked o ring or something is wrong with one of your line connections at the caps. If the problem wasn’t there but now it is after messing...
I bought some line clamps on eBay for a decent price but the slots in the rubber that went with the new clamps didn’t fit up to my lines, they were too small. I ended up using the old rubber with the new metal clamp. I tried to work it in my head how they could fit maybe after years of being...
Wow, that’s my brothers old truck. What a small world man. He used to haul loads with that thing in highschool and I tried to talk him out of letting it go lol. That’s cool.
Man the knowledge some of you guys have on these trucks never ceases to amaze me. Thanks to you and all the others here for the help and sharing of knowledge man. I gratefully appreciate it.
Well you may be right and I’ll look at that, but apparently in the process of removing the light, the battery terminals decided they didn’t like their connection and after some cleaning with a steel brush, it’s working again. Weird how that works out but my terminals needed to be cleaned so that...
The air filter is good to go. The fuel filter only has maybe 10-15k miles on it, but I meant in my last response I was going to order a couple of FUEL filters, not air filters and see what a new one does. IP could be getting tired but I’ll rule out her stuff first and see what the deal is.
I...
Okay so I gave it a heavy dose of diesel kleen and it definitely helped for a short bit, the loss of power is intermittent. I couldn’t get it any higher then 72 the other day, (I was trying to push it to see what it would let me do) and after maybe 10 seconds of stalling at 72, it finally jumped...
What are the tools required to check the timing on these things? I watched a couple YouTube videos but it looks like the ferrit meters are no longer around. How do you go about timing yours?
About three weeks ago I noticed my truck is really really slow. I’ll give it throttle but it feels like it’s even more gutless than it actually is. My first thought is weak injectors but I feel the pump might be an issue. I gave it a couple healthy doses of diesel Kleen and it didn’t help at...
Ah I was mistaken, thinking the port where the old cdr passes exhaust back into intake, not where exhaust enters the cdr. I understand now. Off the top of your head, do you know how big my exhaust needs to be? I’m running a 3 inch straight pipe to a 4 inch tail pipe. Will that work okay?
Okay I see what you’re saying. I’m trying to picture where the oil drain goes, old cdr port? Although that would be way too much oil going into the chambers causing a runaway?
My feed line from my rear tank up past my selector valve is rubber line. It’s held up for almost a year now. You’d probably be fine to cut the existing line and slide on some rubber line.
I do actually have the air cleaner. It’s not pictured but it’s the oiled banks filter.
As for the crossover pipe. The crossover pipe is what connects the two exhaust manifolds and connects it to the up pipe correct? The up pipe then connects to the turbo? I can’t find a crossover pipe for the...
I have a used kit that I bought with my truck for 500$. It’s been sitting for awhile because my truck is my daily and I haven’t had the time to install, nor do I mind the N/A because I live in the California valley and a turbo isn’t a necessity at this elevation.
With that said, I’m curious...
I replaced the tensioner and idler about a thousand miles ago. Thing was fine for a bit but now the belt is rubbing on the tensioner and I don’t know why. I’m not completely panicked by this right now but I know eventually it’ll just chew my belt up. The belt I have on the truck is to small in...
just picked up a truck to build a welding rig with but it’s got three codes and I want to get some input from more experienced individuals before I start doing some chasing and try to figure things out. It runs pretty solid, the crank on start up feels slow but I could just be imagining that. I...
It seems impossible to find a new set of injector lines that will hold up. Accurate diesel sells em but I’ve read they’re made in China and not worth it. Now looking at Pensacola diesel lines and have read the same.
Does anyone have recommendations for places to buy injectors AND lines? I’d...
