    Turbo talk

Talk is cheap bro, horsepower... Not so much. I had a long conversation with R&D on this subject, he is one of the most knowledgeable guys out there on building Idi engines, he has one that's up in the 400 how range. And it took a Lot to get it there. Have you looked up the prices of his...

    Turbo talk

Ever heard of timesrts? They work great for larger studs. I did a bbc427 7/16" to 1/2" studs. Super strong. Iin the lower compression subject I built and olds 350 DX, remember those?: They are also IDI engines, I took .062 thousands off the pistons. Turbocharged it. Was around 16.5 to one ran...

    Turbo talk

What makes you say you need studs on the 6.9? Both engines have the same compression ratio, when studs become necessary is when you start building high boost levels with lots more fuel. Head bolts will stretch and head gasket failure is going to happen. If you want to build any serious power...

    Glow plug controller relocation

I used a Ford starter solenoid mounted on the right fender. Made my own harness, equal legnth, Used female bullet connectors, Used a momentary toggle switch to activate. Works great. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk

    $350 IDIT complete - It's a runner!

Lots of old school truck engines with mechanical fuel systems had a single glow plug in the intake manifold, and it worked to get a cold engine to fire up. So... Yes a heat gun will help it fire up. Put it in the intake and let it heat it for a few minutes. My Idi fires up without GP on it's own...

6.9 not getting fuel to injectors.

Heh Tony, the is a company in Washington state, called R&D IDI performance, they have injection pumps, tuned for performance, injectors as well, HP turbo kits, even high performance camshafts. Lower compression pistons, modified power stroke rods, for IDI engines. They have the goods to really...

6.9 not getting fuel to injectors.

Any universal pump will work for priming, what I like to do is T into the fuel line under the cab, then run the fuel line up to the filter head and Put a check valve up there to keep fuel from draining back. T in on the engine side of the ck valve, and install a ball valve. So you can change...

6.9 not getting fuel to injectors.

Yep, it will be a lot easier on the starter with the glow plugs out. If you can out an electric fuel pump in line, and spin it without the glow plugs, priming should go quicker. Good luck bro. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk

You. Can use starting fluid without the glow system working Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk

6.9 not getting fuel to injectors.

Those inj. Pumps can be hard to get primed, if the truck is a manual trans, pull it with another vehicle and let clutch out I've done that before with my 7.3 it wouldn't start cranking but fired pretty fast pulling it. The 6.9 is a great engine, they can make good power if you Turbocharge them...

Factory cam specs and propane questions.

I have dropped the compression on Idi engines by milling the pistons . Milled .062 off. Got static compression down to the 17.1 range, There are no starting issues, it allows for a lot more boost, more fuel and inj.timing. factory rods are only good for 250 horsepower to the ground in these...
