icanfixall- i have read from several member that it's a good idea to retorque a 6.9 head once in its lifetime, so i'm doing it now, and yes i will leave the push rods right where they are.
Jred- no i loosened the bolts to break them loose, then torque to spec.
I am going to bust the head bolts loose one at a time then retorque to 80lb ft. After that is done my manual says to install the rocker arms and posts in their orignal positions. Apply grease to the valve stem tips. Turn the engine over by hand until the timing mark is at the 11o'clock postion...
Thanks again fix all. Yes you were right, I replaced the IP and return kit but not the injectors. I found new delphi's on thedieselstore.com for about 25 bucks a piece. seems like a pretty cheap price.
i sure hope the new pump isn't hurt. it wasn't too hard but i don't wanna do it again. It looks like u haul does not have anymore injectors. should i change them all or just the one.
Ok gents, so i got the rebuilt IP (u haul) in my buds truck and new injector return line kit. I just have it static timed for now. the truck started after i got the air out of the system and ran pretty good. I took it out to put some fuel in it and when i took the fuel cap off the front tank...
i Think i will get rid of it then, it probley won't hurt anything but it just looks like crap and it bothers me cookoo
thanks for the help guys, if i run into trouble putting the new (uhaul) IP on i will be back asking more questions.
In a previous post I Mentioned about a thing on top of the number 4 injector. I took a couple pics of it. Does anyone know what it is and what it does. I emailed the pics to one diesel shop and the techs thought it was something someone fabricated. BTW it is on a 93 F250. but the engine might be...
Thanks for all the advice every one. I am a powerstroke owner myself and know my way around them pretty good but this the first time ever wrenching on an IDI. As soon as i get a day off i am gonna call oregon fuel injection back and ask them about the pump number. Ya, must be a timing adapter...
Yeah, the injectors are new BB delpi's and the pump has probley never been changed. It has 160K on the odom. I was checking the number on the side of the pump and it has me stumped because oregon fuel injection dosn't list this number DB2831 4703
could this IP be off something else or am i...
Hey guys my buddy has a 92 idi and drove it too work, shut it off and it wouldn't start. We trailered it back to my place for now. I have verified the FSS is working. the lift pump is also pumping fuel. however it cranks and cranks and wont start. i loosened the injecter lines and cranked it and...
