NEWBIE ;oil in overflow and all over cap. am i screwed

Aren't the oil cooler o-rings among the things that folks have had trouble with in the aftermarket / FLAPS brands? I thought it was recommended to go OEM / Motorcraft only, or a reputable supplier like dieselorings.com . I may be thinking of something else, though.....

    Possible trade 94 for 86

What model is your truck? What cab is each truck? What drive type is each truck? Trim level (XL/XLT)? What wheels/tires on each? Those are all major value factors. Do you do much open highway driving? First thing you're gonna notice about that '86 is that it's a lot "busier" at highway speed...

    Carrier Bearing Hardware

7/16" is BIG for a u-nut. Largest I've seen online is 3/8". Hmmm, maybe... http://shop.northlandfasteners.com/NP723594-Chrysler-Type-Cage-Nut-7-16-14-Screw-Size-NP723594.htm (just gotta look the other way that it's for a "Mostly Old Parts and Rust" vehicle....)

They're like lawyers; you curse them until you need one. Try installing the outboard bolts on the front fuel tank skid plate with regular nuts.

    Transmission compatibility

Bonus - if you use that transmission on your half-ton, the bellhousing you leave behind is marketable to the old-school IDI community. Shoot, I might buy it just to have on hand. You do hear of people cracking them now and then.

    Fuel tank selector valve wiring.

Check resistance between the yellow/white wire at the cluster and ground. It should correspond to the level in the tank (high resistance empty tank, low resistance full tank). If not, then the problem is between that point and the tank; either the way you've bypassed the selector, or the wiring...

    WTB '83-'86 interior parts

Interior is the dark/burgundy "cheap wine" red (not the bright "Texas bordello" red). Looking for: * Sun visors * Headliner * Door interior panels (manual windows/locks) Located in southern WI (53703), willing to drive a spell. Headliner and door panels would be expensive to ship, but the...

    Emergency Brake Emergency

Why does that sound like a  idea? I would think the _fix_ would be to install a set of shoes that isn't the cheapest one on the shelf (or in RA's listing, or whatever). It's your brakes, after all, and a set (well, a decent quality set) of rear shoes lasts, what, 80,000 miles?

    Here she is! Ambulance 6.9...

^^^^^ Nightmare is a good word. Decades ago, bunch of high school buddies at one guy's family cottage, his parents' '75 E350, the tranny dipstick tube broke off. All we had out in the sticks was some electrical tape and very basic tools. Van was only 4-5 years old, but the doghouse studs were...

    Emergency Brake Emergency

First, narrow it down between the cables/pedal and the levers, etc. inside the drums. RELEASE the brake, then put a bit of white paint or masking tape on the CORES of the rear cables where they come out of the housings, where they come together on the driver's side of the frame. Then apply the...

Wire on hard fuel line from lift pump to filter

Actually the OBS PSDs (94.5-up) had the heater in the bottom of the bowl. And yes, they would short out and blow the fuse that also powers the PCM, rendering the engine inop. But I digress; in any event, the fuel heaters on all these trucks were designed in at a time in history when station...

Truck won't start need help please???

Try jumping the clutch switch. See cpdenton's pic in post #2; jump the two terminals with the red/blue wires. Should be the two closest to the firewall. Do you have any trouble with the clutch not fully disengaging?

    Junkyard wishlist anyone??

What color is the interior of the '84 truck? I could use the sun visors if they're not all loosey-goosey like mine. Dark "cheap wine" red. Waynetrain (see thread from about a day ago) is looking for a passenger side bricknose headlight.

    1000w Remote plug switch

CEC EF552 - http://www.amazon.com/CEC-Industries-Electronic-Signal-Flasher/dp/B00JXLHESS - small enough to fit behind the fuse box cover (a lot of electronic flashers don't).

    Last Build Date?

^^^^ +1; as I understand it, the PSD was introduced mid-year '94, but it did not REPLACE either IDI option.

Um, it IS a relay. (So is the glow plug relay.) If you didn't have it, you couldn't start your engine. What's wrong with it?
